Ok, so I want to get tracks from my Spotify (paid subscription) into Ableton to use for a variety of things, such as sampling, remixing, DJ mixes etc.

What's the best way to achieve this with as good a quality audio as possible?

What audio interface you have? You could route wdm audio through daw inputs and record them, second best thing would be to buy replay music, it has cheap drm free license.

There are multiple Spotify Converters, you can convert Spotify tracks to Mp3,FLAC,AAC,WAV...
They should help you, Type "Spotify" in the search bar of the sister site and you have a collection of them.

if you are premium user there is no need of a ripping app: you can download from site and listen offline. The hassle is that they allow downloading from mobile only: to have songs into computer you have to transfer them via cloud, usb or bluetooth. Premium quality from spotify is not so bad: mp3 320k

I guess you'll need a drm removal tool to import into ableton, I'm not sure

i set my win10 playback & recording to ASIO4ALL.. i can stream and record anything heard on web directly to daw and also open multiple type of DAWs (also with other apps, audio player, movie player, etc) and playback directly through the same ASIO4ALL w/o conflicting.. i use this thing called VoiceMeeter.. but i think you'll find it easier to use Musify for your Spotify need. =) gl~!

p/s: saw mx500 on your sig.. i'm awaiting delivery, my very first ssd (1tb).. guys i'm about to experience my very first ssd (1tb) hehe..

Well, I use TunesKit Music Converter for Spotify to download Spotify songs to MP3 and then import them to Ableton for use.

The best/easiet way is Virtual Audio Cable as @GammaStar said. There are a lot of free alternatives like this one https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm
Those other "converters" work just the same, they redirect Spotify's output as recording source. It's just packed into a fancy software.
Because of that you should always use "highest quality" in Spotify's settings because it's "What You Hear Is What You Get".

btw you won't get a legal copy although you use Spotify legally.

Nowadays, no matter which audio editor uses to DJ mixes, they can't be compatible with Spotify music. Spotify doesn't work with any DJ software. If you'd like to insert Spotify tracks into Ableton, you can directly convert Spotify to MP3, FLAC, WAV, or other local files for uploading to Ableton for mixing. To do this, you can use DRmare Spotify Music Converter from https://www.drmare.com
It will help you download Spotify songs locally with your free Spotify account without quality loss.
