Hi Guys, I need some help here. i really love how the waves MV2 reacts when compressing a sound, it has 2 sliders but how can emulate it with Logic Pro X's compressor. I really want to learn this type of comp I start playing with attack, release but i can't get it right.
    Can someone hrlp me?? thanks

    @ Mostwest,

As the 'Waves MV2' acts rather as a 'Maximizer', I suggest you instead to use (and try to master ! *yes* ) the 'Audio Energizer' Plugin which is included in LOGIC Pro.

    ADDED AFTERWARDS :

    Oooops, my mistake ! :(

At a first glance, it seems that the 'Audio Energizer' isn't anymore available within 'LOGIC Pro X', but in 'LOGIC Pro 9' !!!

Maybe you can suggest that it could be reintroduced in a next Version of 'LOGIC Pro X' :

    'LOGIC Pro Users Feedback'

P.S: It could worth to send a suggestion, you never know... *yes*

    Quote from the Manual:

    "Low Level Compressor
Low Level Compression can be explained in simple terms as the opposite of standard or high level compression. In a standard compression setting, any signal above the set threshold gets compressed and attenuated. With the MV2 Low Level Compression function, any signal below the set threshold gets compressed upward, resulting in increased gain. The dynamic range is thus compressed, pushing low levels up while leaving high levels as they were.

    High Level Compressor
The MV2 High Level Compression function is comprised of compression with automatic makeup gain and output level control. The Compressor function is similar to that of Waves Renaissance Vox. The compressor is controlled by the Threshold fader, which sets the amount of desired dynamic range compression. An automatic gain makeup function compensates for gain reduction resulting from the applied compression."

So basically it's just a combination of upward compression and regular compression with automatic gain control. Pretty easy to setup with two comps in serial or a parallel compression chain. BUT: not as easy to control as in MV 2. I think it is one of theese tools which you don't really need, if you get the basics (Gainstaging, Compression, EQing) right on individual Tracks and Busses…

Agree 100%. It probably have some use in post-production for dialogues or something like that, really not my field but I can see an use for it for quick adjustments.
If you really want to try just use 2 comps in serial like 5t33z0 told you, one capable of upward compression (like DMG Compassion and probably FF Pro-C) and a regular one.

Funny, that you mention compassion. When I "upgraded" my lastest Versions of DMG Audio Plugins 2 days ago, I fooled around with compassion and I think this is such a beast. It is so damn flexible and can be anything from silky smooth to grimey and grungy like overdriven input of an analog comp. Really Impressive.

We did a radio play in School which I have to mix still. I think MV 2 might come in handy for this now that you mentioned post-production… have to give it a try

MV2 is a chained processor > in logic insert the expander and then the compressor in series and then the adaptive limiter and you have the mv2 ( with a lot more flexibility because attack and release can be set per module versus no control in the MV modules

the energizer was discontinued as a feature because it became unnecessary as the plugin set matured
