Do you know a book on how to create moods?

Moods for what? Musical moods like quirky, epic, magical, etc.? If that's what you're looking for then I don't know of any book that talks about that. Something that comes close is a software program called Secret Composer which you can find on the brother (or sister as some people like to call it...) site. There's also a video tutorial about creating moods by the same guy who wrote the software that I just mentioned. The video is from Ask Video and it is called Music Scoring 101 Creating Moods and Styles. It is also on the brother site.

Another way to learn how to create musical moods, again, if that's what you're looking for, is to look at/listen to the music of others. Ask yourself what type of musical techniques do they use to create a certain mood. Is there a certain chord that they use? Perhaps it's the entire chord progression. How does it help in creating the desired mood? Does the instrumentation and orchestration help in creating the mood? What would happen if I chaged the instrumentation and/or the orchestration?

Of course, you will require some musical knowledge for that type of stuff, but I assume you have some if you're looking for a book on how to create musical moods.

If you feel sad ---> you should be able to write a "sad" song

Wait!

If you "live" life, and are old enough to have experienced most all moods, you should "feel" enough to understand every mood! Why would you need a book?

Holy shit, wait, wait, wait ------------> give me some time and I'll write a book on moods (been married over 35 years I think I have a handle on moods) --- it would probably be a best seller --- or a massive dud.

Screw it, just light a candle, smoke a bowl and you'll be in "the" mood!!!
