How to choose laptop for live gigs 2022

    Did you make a choice ?

    The most important thing for audio PC laptop is : DPC latency.

    Most 12th gen intel CPU with gaming GPU will cause DPC latency because of thermal issues.

    and 12th gen intel CPU are pretty hard to find without a gaming GPU.

    Of course DPC Latency can only be tested within Windows, so you have to get a laptop running to see if it's DPC latency compatible ...

    It's very difficult to find a serious realtime audio compatible PC laptop ...

    I found this even on Ryzen (zen 3+) and gaming gpu. Lenovo slim 7 pro x (ryzen 6900hs + rxt3050). Disabling the dGPU in bios basically ironed out all the DPC stuff.

    nope still didn't make a choice. having to switch desk and re-arrange everything, so some money went out.

    I'm really thinking that Ryzen is not so good at handling music needs, Audient's EVO drivers don't even work on Ryzen CPUs, the fact that some drivers only work on Intel really frustrate me a lot

    I bought an EVO 8 to use it live with my old Intel laptop and it works, but now either I buy an Intel laptop or put the EVO in the trash bin and buy a new interface lol

    the EVO is so compact, I loved it for this form factor for live gigs

    Windows users' life is so complicated today lol

    Get one that you are comfortable with, powerful enough to do the work, and cheap enough to replace when stolen. Too many stories of people getting their gear stolen of late.

    I bought this one for surfing and traveling, but since my desktop died I´ve been lately using it for music and for surprise it´s actually faster than old desktop i5-2500k 16gb. The only disappointment is lack of ports, but I use hubs. Price is nice also 599€
