    Going back to Lao's current situation with external USB3, there are external RAID boxes with USB3 connectivity and accept 2.5" or 3.5" drives.

    There's some brands / models mentioned in forum posts here 1-2 years ago.
    Search for "external hd" & "external raid" & "external storage" for the topics.

    At this date, the most reliable storage solution remains the hard disk! forget SDDs, as soon as it fails, no recovery is possible. Also never uses USB sticks/keys for important datas, it's not reliable during time (even if you don't use it).
