Hi everybody! This is an EXTREMELY newbie problem, but here it is:
I want to make beats. Hip hop beats. I constantly find drumkits here, like this one:

and frankly I don't know how to get beats out of them. How do I go from those individual sounds to a full-fledged beat like the one in the preview? I work 100% in the box, my DAW is Reaper and I have the TR808 as a plugin. I'm pretty sure that's not a good starting point at all, but I have no idea where to go from here. There is some other beatmaking vst I should use instead? There are more plugins involved (and not just one)? Should I change my DAW altogether? Do I need outboard gear?
As I said, painfuly noob, so ANYTHING helps. Thank you all!

There is two ways of making music with a DAW.
    1. use plugins that emulate a musical instrument for example your TR808. In that case you load it onto a new track and then place midi notes that will trigger a sound from your plugin. When placed "correctly" onto a grid it will result in a beat when played back.
    2. use samples of different drumkit parts. Place these samples onto tracks in your DAW. When placed "correctly" onto a grid it will result in a beat when played back.

That's the very very basic idea of making music in a DAW.
I'm not familiar with Reaper so how to achieve one or the other option is something someone else might be able to explain.
Maybe the manual to Reaper can also help you. Much overlooked option (lol)

    Have fun.
