    Why because they have removed financial incentive from the equation? Many classical composers didn't do it for the money (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart), Edgar Allen Poe didn't do it for the money and many many other famous artists and writers throughout history. Once it's done with a focus primarily on money it saps vision and things become simply an equation to recoup investments or to get rich. When it's done to see your vision come to fruition, if you have talent, the money will come later anyway. They're just saying it shouldn't be the prime motivator. In fact this is the primary reason we have such atrocious cookie-cutter music these days. Artists are scared to deviate from the norm for fear of losing fans and therefore cash and this ensures art stays right where it is...which is the definition of stagnation.
