Same age, same city, same childhood. We must be brothers from different mothers,@naitguy . The real OG's will know:
In 1977/78 we had a Grundig tv color with (ultrasound) remote, we bought and attached the below console (that I still have along many other unused vintage - I don't know why), with classic tennis, hockey, pelota etc. - in black and white. Those were the tech entertainments... Last edited: Dec 16, 2024 at 11:41 AM
Matey, you unintentionally opened the Pandora's Box hehehe. We all must have had an affliction to gaming even if it was for a short while for some. The flashback was so strong, i forgot to say i did play DopeWars in around '99 for almost a year on a Pentium 70mhz machine i had for gaming since '95-96. Tomb Raider 3 and Thief: The Dark Project were my other "serious" games at the time. Welcome to the geriatrics department mate hahaha. Cheers
That's Leisure Suite Larry, a graphic adventure about going to hookers, fuking a lot, waste yourself to death, getting beated by club security... All those nice 8bits videogamy things.
As old arcade gamer, I clearly remember the olympic game and the kung fu platform. Also Dragon's lair, though was the new kid of the block in 80's, it was enough buggy and repetitive being a laser disc sequential clips. Then it came Space ace, less buggy but at the end I know just 3 games of the video disc genre, never seen again ever after. BTW you can find most of the original arcade games (rom) with MAME emulator.
Absolutely a masterpiece. Unique in its genre, almost no fights and creepy, great story, even its sequels were great. BTW I got them from the infamous twinlight cd releases. I think the only games bought were: quake quake 2 tomb raider (+ 3dfx patch) tomb raider 2 descent 2 jane's combat apache longbow dungeon keeper. I have them somewhere.
Wow, the mega classic Atari Pong. I remember my parents playing it. It's like one of my first memories, those blurry ones. I was a little kid. Though I think it arrived late to my country compared to other places. Holy shit, respect you elders youngster.. COUGH COUGH COFF!! Oh, that's an Arkanoid clone. Must be the second game most cloned ever after Tetris
The Japanese honorifics... they should be called horrifics... for what they imply. Last edited: Dec 16, 2024 at 1:18 PM
I had access to many early computers through my mom's friends at the University and such, was gifted a Altair 8800 kit, later I purchased a Sinclair ZX-81, Commodore Vic-20, C-64, Amiga 500, Amiga 2000HD, then into the PC world with a 486dx-100, varied PC's after that, macbook, and more PC's. Yes some of us are old, yet young.
We had arcade games at the shops and cafes and Bomb Jack was one of my favorites. I was a record holder for years.
OG enough to fondly recall Pong on a black & white TV, programming games in BASIC on a TRS-80, BBS crawling at 300 baud, and cassette-drive storage. Y'all are whipper snappers.
