You would probably call this music "shit" or "trash" or something like that.
It's also not related to the topic.

I heard a mix at -6 LUFS before. I turned up the volume knob and nothing happened.

I mean -6-ish at the most intense section of the arrangement, not -6 integrated.
That would just mean no quiet intro tho.
Come on guys, it's really not that loud. Most of DnB-adjacent music operates at -3 nowadays. For about a decade already, in fact.

I never use a limiter on single tracks. I have a preference for an automation or a compressor over any limiter on any single track. My purpose is to avoid any prominent peaks.

I predominantly use optical type compressors for the single tracks due to the fact that these varities of compressors have slow attack and release times. In other words optical compressors keep the original sound quality.

Waves Audio CLA-2A Compressor is a fairly good optical compressor.

my guess is that those among us who are not using a limiter because of it what it sounds like to them, are probably working with their projects super loud and hoping to export the full render at full volume in 1 bounce.

If you set a limiter up correctly, it is basically a wasted instance of a plugin. Because it should be doing almost 0 work and is just a simple red light .1 or .2 below clipping. If you can bypass it toggled back and forth on/off, and hear it; the parameters of the limiter are not set correctly. You should be able to remove it/disable it at any instance and not even hear anything.

unless your intent is to abuse the effect creatively, you shouldn't even notice when you remove it.
