I'm not sure where the OP's question has asked for PC users to defend their "decision". He asked why do so many producers and actual studios prefer to use Macs instead of Windows.

The only people turning the thread into "but my pc is cheaper and faster" are defensive Windows users. Most of whom have never used a Mac for serious production anyway. If you can't answer the question, then don't try. You could stumble over to a Linux thread and have people using the same hardware who will also tell you why your Micro$oft OS sucks.

But who even needs Mac users or Linux users for that. Windows users make the threads for themselves :)

A PC I use too as PC is: "Personal Pomputer".

    As @
saccamano wrote just above : "... too many threads like it on here that have descended into same oblivion which Omiac inevitably ends up shutting down. buh bye now."

In the lab : Sirius Victor, coding FFTs in assemblar (acoustic transducteurs IRs; one night = 2 sound fields!)
6 months later, big step: for Schlumberger all tests/coding where sent to a Cray 2 (click..., done! But there was some waiting time in the queue; it's now at the Musée des arts et métiers / Paris).

The best thing about the "Mac or PC" question is that we can even ask it...and have multiple options.

This way, everyone can define themselves, indulge their specific preferences, and celebrate their decision for as long as they like. ;))

I prefer to build my own devices and upgrade them with new components from time to time—something Apple would constantly try to prevent. Anything I can't configure or change myself limits my sense of freedom.

However, I'm very familiar with the advantages of an Apple system—small, light, quiet, powerful, and low-maintenance—and I plan to get a used Mac Studio M3 Ultra at the next opportunity. Let's see if it can render 4K videos and audio effects faster than my hot 16-core Ryzen with an RTX 5070Ti...and then there's stem separating in SpectraLayers12...that needs AI acceleration.
I'm curious to see who will be faster.

I dislike Microsoft just as much as Apple. Ultimately, they're both exploiters and rip-off artists...

Thankfully, to MAKE music, I only need my voice and not a computer – and I am the operating system. The computer is only necessary for the peripherals.

    Conclusion:
What's better – PC or Mac... or maybe?
    STEINWAY!
    ;)

Apple entered the creative workspace quite agressively after buying various software companies in the field.

And i guess if you started with one software, it is very hard to leave it for something else. So i guess people stuck with Apple/macOS.
There is still macOS exclusive software -- think Logic, Metasynth and some plugins. If you want to use it, apple hardware is the only way.

And to it point its always the hardware, Apple Mx chips are still very strong compared to normal computers, even you have to sell a kidney for a few more GB of storage or more RAM.
    But there are advantages.

As Linux there is due to Bitwig an ever growing audio community, before there were rosengarden, Ardour, LLMS i think, but it never really felt like something meant to be taken serious. I think there are also Linux builds for Reaper. I can work nice and probably if you settled in a lovely OS with quite ever growing new plugins now due to CLAP, LV, etc and also linux builds.

but well due to the widespread of windows before the end of 90s, windows might be most used OS in the hobby market for audio software? I am just guessing here. But there is so much software and its easy to get something decent hardware-wise?
But still the windows stock audio driver could be better ...

As you can see many reasons for why users would prefer on over the other OSes, but in the end it doesnt matter what you use, as long as you productive and creative with your choice.

Also no need for OS-wars here!

the trick is debloat, my notebook is super quiet now after that and hey i can use software, which is almost 30 years old. does this work with your mac aswell?
before debloated there was always 50% cpu usage due to lots of MS bloatware.

AMD 5700g on tomahawk motherboard. Upgraded when the on board graphic chip came out, from an i72600 which only ever ran at 20% for the stuff I do. The new one will keep me going until the software isn't compatible.
Probably always going to be on pc, not because any moral/political stance, just because I know how it works and where everything is.
I got given an ipad once and I hated it not knowing where stuff was so, employing the old maxim, if it's not broke - don't fix it.

any 32-bit application that runs on standard 32-bit Windows 7 will also run on 32-bit Windows 7 installed via Boot Camp on an Intel Mac, as long as any necessary hardware drivers exist for the Mac.

Not that there is any point in doing so, but there you go.

And most 32-bit Windows applications and plugins can run via CrossOver on ARM Macs. Again, not that anyone really wants to do this.
