Personally, I have a little over 200. However, one of my many resolutions for this New Year is to get rid of those Libraries I don't use (or never will). Time to clean house, ladies and gents!

 

I own 98% of the ones I have.

I have/had all and almost none because most are shredded.
I really test almost everything and avoid hiphop pack and synths emulations.
Theres a lot of junk inside of libs and many redundant with plugins.
Im sure many people never even heard most of the nki files or understand the most complex scrip... its almost a religious life... last weeks I deleted 100gb per week, its insane!

 

Everything other than the Output Audio and Spitfire can go for me.

First thing you should toss out is anything by StudiolinkedVST.

too many, after a complete reinstall during Xmas, I will now xterminate useless libs... It´s cool to have the opportunity to try out libs, so thank you all for contributing and for support.

The sentence "my Libs are 98% legal" makes no sense to me.
In my opinion it is more a problem using 2% of stolen libraries to earn money than collecting libraries without even using them. And the public use of 2 stolen libraries is definitely more dangerous than having 100 stolen ones on a harddisk at home.
And a lot of, when not most of the Kontakt Libs, as MYCbeat said, are crap not even worth the space on a disk.

 

I intentionally phrased my question that way. I was curious about whether many folks (like me) collected these libraries simply as a means to "test" them. If I actually find a library useful for my composition purposes, I will actually buy them. However (oftentimes) many of these "non-purchased" and unused libs can languish on one's hard drive(s) if we're not diligent (or lazy like me). I find that if you have to spend money on a piece of software, there's a tendency to "hoard" -- even when you no longer have a use. "Having" vs. "owning" is definitely a separate question.

 

Under 25, in size 273 GiB, lots of stuff removed throughout the years. I'm used to "purging" quite often and would never leave out content I'm not going to use.

 

To cut through the legalistic nit-picking, you mean "possess," right?

If one doesn't legitimately "own" it, then one doesn't really "have" it, no? (Don't ask; don't tell.)

 

Maybe you should have used the word "using" Instead of "having"!

In my case I own a lot of different Kontakt libs, and frankly I uses very few of them atm. but thats because I make things that relate to serten kind of sounds!

The way you ask in this thread is like asking if you´re a collector or not!

 

You know the well-worn phrase: "Possession is nine-tenths of the law"? Well, in some countries, possession is not nine-tenths of the law, but rather the onus is on the possessor to substantiate his/her's ownership. Here's the reality. Unless your computer/storage device is confiscated by law enforcement, chances are that whatever you have, possess, or own, will remain in your 'custody' until an eventual decision is made as to what will become of said product.

Hmmnn... "How Many Are Kontakt Library Collectors"? Does not quite do it. My original question is simple enough (IMHO). "How Many Kontakt Libraries Do You Have"? (On your computer or whatever. Right now). I'm sure everyone has "collected" and are "collectors", and have disposed of hundreds of libraries over the years. Not quite the same thing. That's why the poll has the question using the word, "Have". I could have asked the question: "How Many Kontakt Libraries Have You Stolen And Are Now Currently HOARDING"? After which, everyone will have to get their mugshots taken, pass a lie-detector test, and finally, be subjected to a background and fingerprints check. That should just about do it...
