I can confirm Omni v. 2.4 has a prob with loading times. And i mean legit version too. The new feats like GUI re-scaling and new automation assignments are great but most likely they fkd something up along the way. Back to 2.3 for me.

    Yes, and I know it's a pain, because it's so big :)

Yes, but I think - or better I hope - this isn't true for everyone.
So it must be some characteristics of our computers that prevents Omnisphere to behave as it should.

to load the plugin itself, takes 10-15 secs (also on the the same HDD)and to load a big patch takes 20-30 secs, bcs the library is installed on an external HDD connected with USB3, playback is smooth for me.

    (windows 8.1 x64 and Ableton 9.7.5 x32)

...and that's the point. I don't mind waiting 20s for Omnisphere to load, but I _do_ mind waiting even 2s when loading the next preset...
An SSD does help but other than the SSD data transfer rate might suggest, it doesn't make preset loading instant.

and? i hardly use omni, its installed - i sampled stuff into absynth5 and kontakt and everything else loads.
problem is that spectrasonics has bloated big graphics in the dll, you can reduce to 3/4 of the oroginal size.
not going to buy a SSD.

I installed Live 10 today and was curious if Omnisphere's behaviour would be the same. So I backed up the DLL and STEAM, installed the DLL first. And you know what? Starts just a little slower than the old one (5 compared to 3 secs). After that I updated the patches and: the same. Omnisphere starts within some seconds. The same in Live 9.
The only thing changed was installing Live 10.

==> go forward to 2.4 for me

BTW: The stand alone versions has it's own DLL in c:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plug-ins\64bit\ just overwrite it with the one you patched in your general VST folder. Works fine and remembers screen size as well.
