Hi, all. I'm looking for a way to extract one single audio channel from audio I've extracted from a movie. The channel I'm after is the third one down.

I'm using Studio One 4. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Not sure about Studio One but you can use REAPER > Item Properties > Channel Mode > MONO 3

its not easy task i can tell ya brother parasite B

last month i tried RX 7 from izotope it does do good job
1- first add the voice clip in to rx7 browser
2- from the right side menu use dialogue isolate option and click on render(first listen with preview and adjust the faders )
3 you can isolate also background music with ''music rebalance '' from the menu ,keep all faders down except the voice fader
click on preview first to see if you succeeded in isolating your desired vocals from rest of background music

heres the thing ,depending on how loud the background music is ,it does the job around 80-90% success rate ,
and im sure there are experts there who can work better and get higher success rate

and since you are studio one brother from another mother i can advice you here also that you dont stop there ,
get the rendered file in to S1 ,and edit it best way you can,TRY remove the start and end OF those unnecessary clicks
then bounce the edited parts as 1 file again as cleaned edited audio

    good luck parasite B

Thank all three of you for suggestions. I wasn't sure if anyone would be able to give me some advice on this. But I'm going to go through all three suggestions, and see which one works best. I have Adobe Audition, so I'll start from there. I'm very familiar with RX7, but I'd rather try to extract the layers as separate ones. We'll see what happens!

Thank you all again for your advice! Appreciated on here as always!

@No Avenger, what should I export the initial sample as? I'm thinking as a .FLAC. I'll just give it a go and see what's what. Part of the constant fun with music and samples!

@No Avenger I'm game for that! Thank you again, dude. You've helped me out so much in the past. Always appreciate. I don't know if you celebrate Christmas and New Years, or not, but either, I hope you and family have a good one.

@Gyro Gearloose I have no idea. I dragged an .MP4 into Studio One 4, used the extract audio option, and that's what it gave me. I've never seen anything like it before. I don't know if it's taken surround sound audio, and placed it into one channel. Definitely something that I've never worked with, but then I've never extracted audio from a film through Studio One. It's really gotten me interested in how much more you can do with it. I don't typically work with samples, especially from movies. I like to make my own samples. Copyright and all. This is for a bit of on the side fun with a side project from my normal music.

Long story short, I don't have fucking clue.

@phumb-reh 1 file per track is what I'm used to. That's why this really threw me off. I've never ripped audio straight from a video before. That totally holds up what you're saying about only ever seeing it in video. All new to me, but I love learning!

If I had to, yes, but so far I never dealt with multiple waves in a single file.

Audacity does well with multi-channel files too. And it's free.
