i've always been curious as to what the session look like.

they often say its racks within racks etc.

is there a video that shows even the most simplistic arrangement/example of what it looks like?

im thinking its using the pads to launch clips..but then in some cases its not.

Mind is just blown.

It's done with MIDI effects on tracks inside a MIDI rack in Ableton Live. Not really a whole lot to see in the piano roll. It's the effects attached to each track that do all the hard work of sequencing the lights.

If you have time to trawl through tons of YouTube vids, search for "Launchpad covers". Some of the tutorials are pretty bad, but there's a fair few good ones out there. Should you happen upon some dead cool clips, drop a link into this thread. I'd love to see them.

 

I highly doubt that there are clips being launched at all in this video.
