Some folks spell it out and some folks say it as a word. I just heard a Roland exec spell it out and it got me thinking about it.

I've started spelling it out.

 

same. i was in germany on tour last year and this rando girl said ,"duh" like she was a valley girl. it was funny, but now i think of that every time, she ruined it

 

I say dawww, Demon At Work

 

In Russia we call it usually like Dove, Davka, sekvensor, host, softeena, proga, programmka, frutik, frukty, eF-eLka, coobeis or kubik, nyusha (nuendo), ablik, ableton (as it is - are bleten, in Latin manner)..

Why not just call it a sequencer?

 

cause that applies to a lot of things, especially in electronic music circles

Moog is pronounced as mowg, mogue.... There was even a synth: Moog Rogue

 

I'm old (51) and started with Logic on the Atari ST. We certainly called that a sequencer.

 

"Duh" is faster. Happens the same with other acronyms that can be pronounced as a word.

 

Because a sequencer only processes MIDI.

Sequencer: MIDI Sequencer

 

like, "oh cool, what sequencer do you use?". do you mean like drum sequencer? or sampler? synth? - it adds that extra having to explain further - D.A.W. gets to the point, nothing else in music is called that
