I was hoping to hear some ideas about this. Many vocal production "tutorials" can be found, but any I have seen all begin with the example vocal samples already selected. Some may begin with a nice extracted acapella, or they have even been recorded specifically for the production.

I am wondering about others' workflow before the work inside your DAW, Melodyne, and plugins even begins. There are new Vocal sample releases seemingly every single day, and the range of quality has no boundaries. Do you just listen to hundreds of files? if so, how? Do you have a favorite application or plugin you use to audition, or do you have some other ways of doing this? This can be either very time consuming or relying on Luck.
