No zorgbop, its not that simple. What you mean is the way poeple are making music, not the music itself. I agree, to build music with predefined sounds and presets is easy and will allways result in a copy of a copy. But thats okay! If music isn't original it won't be recognised as original. Such producers or "musicians" won't find their way thru the millions of competitors.

But someone created a style or a genre for the first time and was the one who developed all presets, rhythms and sounds all alone. No copy at all. Just creativity. And the way someone builds his music influences allways the result. If you like it or not, is just your taste. Every one has an opinion, me too.

First electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk or Depeche Mode opened a new door for every muscian. You can hate the way they did music, but you can't ignore that Martin Gore wrote so many songs with impact. Its all about the interpretation. Johnny Cash covered Personal Jesus, and I have no problem to imagine a guy like Hendrix would have done so. Music as composition and arrangement has nothing to do with guitar skills or the abillity to read a score. You even could Led Zeppelin let cover "To the Rhythm" from "Katie perry" and maybe it would fit your taste perfectly. The quality of the song would be the same. Only the interpretation would be different.

Beside the mainstream exist many artists with similar skills like Jimmy Hendrix had. You can't recognize them because they don't shine like Hendrix did in his time. Maybe you are someone like him and feel frustrated don't getting enough acceptance. Yes. He was outstanding then but for some people he was nothing more than a deaf geek - to say it in your words. You shouldn't think so radical. You can say you don't like this or that! But don't spill all your hate over people who don't share your taste of making music.

Same here, B (Eng) = H and Bb = B, that is (I guess) because of German influence. And yeah @Baxter, you can laugh but that "ess" and "iss" thingy smell like borrowed too. At the end of the day, they had some composers (like shitload lol) that were even able to modulate! :hahaha:

Yep and it's hard for us coming from the Latin world. I mean in French Do, ré, mi fa, etc. If you have access like me to tutorials mostly in English you can forget that...Which I did...And it's a problem sometimes with people in France who don't "speak" in A,B,C,D , etc .terminology.
The worst is with sharp and flat (dièse and bémol), which I get wrong in French one time out of two.

This is the single stupidest thing I've ever read. As for the original post, there's a reason musicians study for years to know their shit. You need to hit the books.

Yeah yeah silly little boy, go for your little tantrum you're going to get heard.
Everybody here knows about the very basic knowledge you display regarding music theory.
No one talked about remixes nor tried to prove anything about them, and EDM isn't about that, nor rap or any genres you quoted.
You're trying to give to your taste a meaning it doesn't have. Your taste is just that : your taste. Music exists independantly of it and of your deaf ears. It's being defined and it has been defined outside of your taste and it will always be. Period.

Now you're just venting, it's pretty sad.
I don't talk with people lacking knowledge, argument or manner. Your behavior disqualifies you, it's irrelevant what you think you know, you ain't worth much.

Yeah, I know :D ABCDEFG makes more sense than AHCDEFG, but someone made a mistake during translation few centuries ago and now we need to deal with what we have

This case has not changed for me a lot. I've tested lots of ways to replace my and others people's priorities in listening but all of them have been 100% useless.

Yep. :) Many made the sloppy mistake of turning the "b" into "h". Those damn feather pens and the stress to get the music done in time for those un-musical bastards who had the money (employers).
But I remember in the late 90's there was some european agreement to go back to the B, hence my "get with the times". Obviously it didn't fall through everywhere, but Sweden switched anyways (to B). So I stand corrected.

I was kind of taken aback from Foster911's first comment, but the shit that is being flung now is just uncalled for. To the OP, reading chords from websites takes a lot of research and study. There are a lot of chords, and knowing them is just a gradual learning process. I don't think that calling someone a cunt is going to help the knowledge of this thread.

So much debate about simple music theory, wow!

Learning music theory is not necessary, but it makes life much easier and more vibrant.

That document has been a life saver in live situations for me many times, use it or lose it, I don't care, but it's the best piece of music theory you will ever see.

If you're a producer, or you want to be a producer on your own, know your shit. Every guitarist I've ever heard that doesn't know shit about theory, and just "feels" their way through it, they suck and sound half assed. In this modern age, producers have to be musicians as well.

Do all of your thoughts always happen five minutes apart? That must make having a conversation with you real slow.

    It's very simple.

First, you study the notes and what they represent in the midi keyboard. Done.

When the chord is a simple "F" , that's just a major chord. F minor chord is introduced there's a lowercase m next to the letter F , for example Fm) So that's how you distinguish Major chords from Minor chords. F, Fm. Done.

How to find major chords and minor chords in the midi keyboard without even knowing or remembering them? Simple Math.
You just need to be able to count to 7.

First root note for the corresponding Major chord = F
Now since this is a Major chord you count the root note F as 0, then move along the midi keyboard by 1,2,3 and 4 which is note A in the midi keyboard is the next note in the chord. You continue to count per next note 5, 6 and 7 then you find the last note in the triad chord which is C.

Congratulations you just found the notes of the chord F = F, A, C

First root note for the corresponding Minor chord = Fm
Now since this is a Minor chord you count the root note F as 0, then move along the midi keyboard by 1,2 and 3 which is note G# or Ab (same note don't let this worry you) in the midi keyboard is the next note in the chord. You continue to count per next note 4, 5, 6 and 7 then you find the last note in the triad chord which is C. Also the same note as in the Major chord. So the only thing that changes is you go one step back from 4 to 3.

SAME PRINCIPAL APPLIES TO ALL MAJOR AND MINOR CHORDS.

Congratulations you just found out how to find any major and minor chord in the scale.
