How come there's no VST of the Kurzweil K2000/K2500?

Isnt UVI stuff based on samples internal?

Something for arturia to remodel as Plugin?

Maybe the marketing didnt see any potential to emulate it as a plugin?

I had the 2500XS and it was fantastic. It would be killer to be able to use it again in VSTI form...and not have to pick it up and lug it around as the thing weighted a fucking ton.

Kurzweil is selling an updated version of that K2 engine in the K2700 Keyboard as of July 19, 2021. They have changed hands a couple times. No rack is offered. Kurzweil might sell it as a plugin but it might take some serious work to port over the code.

I used to be a huge Kurzweil fan. Had a couple of modules and a K2000. They were ahead of their time back in the day. Not so much anymore. Definitely a classic sound though. I watched Ray Kurzweil demo the original K250 in their suite at AES in New York back in the 80s. Good times. I swore I would never sell my Pro Expander module because the piano was so good, but I did. Now there are so many great alternatives. There are some K2000 sample sets floating around for some old samplers like Roland or Akai I think.

I'm still using the hardware beast and so is my former bandmate [I K2000VP him K2500], but it would be really convenient to have a VSTi version of it and this is an understatement. I would be all over it!

I own a k2000, 2500 & 2600XS... Nothing special about'em anymore to be honest. Only thing I would use the 2600 for these days would be the keybed & MIDI strip lol.

Isn't it just a sampler anyway? Arturia have been doing replicas of some of these old school sampler... and I don't see the point. And you can't get any specific sounds since usually musicians didn't stick with the stock sounds.

there is a huge library of stuff available in those formats. one thing I think is worth reminding about quality. many of the manufacturer specific format sample libraries and collections were done at very high quality. their dealers were selling expensive units and those samples were what someone buying one would hear in the store. they are on many records.
