What's the capacity of your HDD with samples? If you have more than one, what's the total capacity?

I am at 2TBs right now. External HD dedicated to sample libraries. But as quite few members mentioned, its time for trimming. Too much same old stuff.

6 hard drives.. 2 external and 4 a little older ones.. honestly and this is what i DO! i burn down my sample libraries on BLU RAY discs because sometimes there will be a hard drive failure.. blue ray will last over 1000 years!

I have a 800 GB partition for all my libraries but besides the drum libs for SD3, I rarely use a library more than 2 or 3 times.

Agreed, I might as well delete most of these but I always think that some of these might be useful one of those days.

There is so much duplication, or close enough to it. A few tb available to you at any time is maybe too much; but if your drives are fast enough it doesn't matter. It's good to get them out of your way by backing them up, should you ever really need to go dig something out. I like to have a good amount available, but my "auditioning" of samples is to literally type in mac Finder search strings like "130, kick" and then just see what I stumble upon to use, right then and there. My reason to archive old stuff, is because older samples were recorded with prior generations of audio interfaces/convertors. It is amazing how quickly they improve in convertor quality vs price of interface in a short time. I think it is better to start out with "start of the art" recordings, if you will; rather than taking an old sample and working it uphill. Even if you plan to lo-fi it anyway.
