SOPA & PIPA passed transparent to public eye, otherwise, this would not be occurring.
They dont have to tell you there is a law, or that one exists (just like they deny public information).
It also doesn't matter if the US president signs a law or not, it still passes.
That is how rigged the system is.
    This is also documented.
It happens quicker than you can blink your eye.
    Now meet the OPEN Act.
They are all 3 one in the same.

Look at what is happening NOW, and look at those laws.
This would not be occurring if those laws did not pass, in some form or another through other bills, etc.
Just because they said they were "suspended" or "shelved" doesn't mean shit, 5000 other bills could have passed in to law at the same time.
... any of those 5000 could be publicly deniable, without public knowledge, and could have the same impact, if not more (similar to how 40,000+ new laws went into effect on Jan 1st).
... ... nobody knows what the fuck those laws are/were, and they boast how nobody knows what they are, and that we wont find out until something happens.
The US government & private organizational entities previously had no type of jurisdiction in any of these countries where these hosting services originate, now they do.
regardless that they operate out of jurisdiction with emphasis placed on the ProIP legislation passed in 2008
    ... do the math

land of the fucking free my ass. I do believe the system is so corrupt that no public outcry would ever change what will happen to the internet. It's a shame but the internet is no longer a free place to share and speak. It's like they are able to screen all our phone calls and tap everything we do and use it against us. I'm sure they could find anyone guilty if they looked hard enough.

I don't think they will pursue individuals for downloading but they are looking to take profit out of the equation. I agree there should be change but the means is not right, it should be the best service that wins not existing companies who don't understand the net forcing antiquated rules on a new system that can't be controlled like this.

iTunes has been the best example of this. It saved the record industry when they failed to understand how to make an ecosystem to sell their own content. They didn't want to work together and resisted it. But in the end they all realised they could make massive profits digitally. TV and movies are next, the bandwidth is there but you can't get all the content you want in one place for the right price. Netflix is close but the content is patchy and not to bee trusted long term.

Software is a totally different beast, the app store works great but software companies still ship on DVD and won't offer content in a central online store. Until they do I for one am not willing to pander to their demands, I will only buy software i love and think is truly great.

I'm not saying their hosts will disappear but it seems laws in the US are letting attacks happen worldwide. Something has changed somewhere to allow this to happen as all these guys are usually more cocksure and able to hide. I'm concerned for the current model long term but something else will come all as it always does.
