Hello, I'm analyzing the track valentino khan - deep down low which is an interesting song. I'm amazed by how wide the stereo is and how powerfull remains, I switched Mid & Side to listen what was going on there. In the Mid eveything sounds normal but when you switch to Side, the sub bass is still there nearly untouched and the hi hat sounds without any aparently phase issues.

I could not upload a clear Side example, so I uploaded the stereo loop for you to switch between.

I tried to remade those hats but I get that unpleasant stereo phase overlap when I switch to Side and/or Mid, how can I achieve that clarity and wide on the hats?

    Thank you.

i'd do : duplicate hhats track, add 10-20ms delay between them, hard pan L&R,compress.

use haas effect with a delay and short delay times, like left 10ms and 20ms for the right one, increase dry and the feedback a lil bit.

Yeah, that is The Haas Effect (as ArticStorm said, but he said Hass).

OP: You can also just layer a new hihat (maybe playing a different pattern) and counter-pan it. You can also try more extreme M/S (or even dual mono) EQ'ing.

Hello again, I finally did it without noticeable phase problems! Thanks for the quick replies which guided me to some google research! *yes*

It was not about using delays for these kind of short sounds but using very short time streching or detune. I used the theory of doubling the sound so I had two copies of the same sound, BUT I realized that they would be always making trouble because they are exact in waveform, so I streched one of them a little bit, pan hard L-R and I got it nice and clean with no phase issues at all.

I hope this helps to somebody else :)
