Thanks for letting me join the excellent site and forum.
Despite owning 2 synths, a midi keyboard and various VST's for a number of years Im a complete novice.
I tend to just mess about, create something that sounds good but never really sure how to turn it into a fully fledged track.
My excuse? Confusion that morphs into frustration then walking away for various months:(
Need to sit down and really have a go

i use Studio One after downloading a dodgy copy years ago. Same with cubase but Studio One is more user friendly for me. i actually bought a legit copy a few months back. I built a new PC and its allup there in my loftroom.
A Roland Juno G. Novation Ultranova and a Arturia Keylab Midi. Tonnes of VSTs. I have the gear that could make some people with far greater knowledge envious. But it just sits there :(
thing is make up some pretty good little tunes but unable to make a hook to change it that would fit. Then there are drums. Cant keep constant 2 beat

well one of my favourite artists is Gary Numan. Then you have Ultravox. I love early 80s synth pads . Not cheesey stuff though.
Then you have the likes of Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre

Here are some things I created years ago. no idea how. All guess work. Being unable to play ,Arpegiator patches are a godsend
As for the drum. i think it was Stylus rmx on preset

the latter track sounds awful. No idea why. Just sounds out of frequency

in the end it's all about structure.
one good way to try to get things finished i your case would be to insert markers which will define the lengths of each parts
I think that would be a good start

up to you to define the kind of structure you want for your tunes / songs

free music and improvisation have the same value than a finished song "product", if you ask me.
