    Hello all.

I am curious if anyone could offer some advice or point me to some VST's that can help achieve what I'm trying to do.

I would like to try my hand at making some more layered and improvisational ambient songs. I generally have made songs by recording multiple layers in live time and built them up that way. But I would like to get into looping to improve my workflow and inspiration.

Similar to using a guitar looper, where you would play something, release the pedal, and it keeps looping what you played, allowing you to play over the loop, or to press the pedal again and add to the loop.

So like a VST that I can play something, capture the loop, and punch record and have that loop be recording while Im playing another track. It would open the door for more raw inspiration, versus creating a sound, duplicating, etc., etc...

Ideally, I would be able to add or remove layers to the loop. Is there a VST that offers what I'm after, or a function in the DAW that I'm maybe not aware of. I use mostly Studio One.

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks! Im gonna give that a try. It sounds from the description like it tends to color the sound a bit, but if it's just artifacts, that is all good. I appreciate the heads up on that.

Awesome. That seems about as straight forward as it gets.

You want a VST/reverb with a freeze function. BTW, What DAW do you use?

I once spent an entire night routing my keyboard's hold pedal to be a midi footswitch to control the MSuperLooper, and got it to work like a true looper pedal. Then it crashed on me because the release had bugs. I didn't try again, because someone gave me a looper pedal for free. But MSuperLooper is really cool.
