​Basically, Kontakt and Youtube (or any other external sound) won't run simultaneously. Kontakt mutes everything else on my laptop (including tutorials i'm watching on youtube). I'm kind of looking for a solution similar to the one on Fl Studio 11 where i've been told to simply check the "Auto close device" button. Any help would be really appreciated!

Additional information:
- I use Kontakt 5 in stand-alone mode
- Kontakt is on Asio mode
- I use Windows 7

you need to make sure the sound card is being shared (ASIO does not like sharing).

I have just opened youtube, a tutorial is now playing, I then opened Kontakt standalone, clicked on options at the top choose audio, and I clicked on WASAPI (shared mode) for the driver. click close, you should now be able to play your instrument sounds and still be able to hear the video. WASAPI (shared mode) is a windows driver.

 

The main problem isn't from Kontakt,

Asio will kill any other Sounds coming from other programs,

All you have to do is changing the Kontakt Output.

You may need an external Soundcard dude .

 

What he says. You need to check also run in background, with WASAPI and do the same for any other programs.

 

or if your Lazy Steinberg has created a program that automatically manages your audio in/outs signals.

Had the same problem with my laptop (Win7) not only Kontakt non functioning while a movie or other app was open but finally Kontakt not making any sound whenever it chose, randomly. I can confirm that SirSillySausage solution is the best. Set to WASAPI and enjoy *yes*
