Disable gatekeeper altogether, its a couple lines in the terminal. This removes the requirement for software to be signed and makes installations much more straight forward.

Not necessarily, there are other changes in Big Sur that affect compatibility.

Disabling Gatekeeper just removes the signed app requirement which will make almost all Big Sur compatible plugins run.

 

it depends on which plugins you want to use. tried waves/fabfilter/tbproaudio/native instruments(most products)/spectrasonics/Ik multimedia/denise/baby audio and more.

and i didn't even disable gatekeeper(just codesign). even i'm not still using all of those plugins i tried many and the only plugin that didn't work was the old battery 4 release.

 

Thanks, as mentioned earlier, im using a late 2014 imac i7 27 inch 5k screen (goes black once in a while) no over heating yet diagnostics show no issue..running ok on bigsur until i use the built in camera via zoom, then black lol

What machine are you on?
No gatekeeper disabled? Everyone swears by it
How bout security, i have lil snitch, is there anything you recomend?

 

using a mac mini m1 here. but plugin compatibility won't change that much according to model unless you have an apple silicon, it's about os. disabling gatekeeper is not essential(codesigning plugins will do the trick!), but it will make installing k'd software easier. i don't personally install k'd software on a daily basis so taking time to codesign doesn't bother me.

 

excuse me if I seem naive but I can't turn gatekeeper off via terminal, little snitch just reported that its failing due to gatekeeper and I did the terminal command

in addition to this I was curious to ask also
-how are you code singing?
I ask because I noticed there are apps to do it and thought it was a simple terminal command line like how I described in a previous post for plugin alliance

to disable gatekeeper,

sudo spctl --master-disable (enter your password after hit enter.)

In order to load system extentions you need to disable sip.you can re-enable it after installation.

 

hey yeah, nothing happens and I found a terminal command to check the status and it turns out I need to do all this in recovery mode

all good here so far, I did the SIP then after restarting i shut off gatekeeper
btw there is a gatekeeper status command spctl --status

Try installing microsoft visual all packages. I've seen a similar thread.

 

Tried that the vdrist bundle from m$ i instsalled the 2013 - 2021.

I am running Montery, Antares is working, brainworx is working, even slate digital melodies is working but the softube,ssl console, and slate bundle is not showing up, hanging at ableton scanning. Even soothe is not working.
I tried the opengl fix for sooth but that doesnt work also.

Any suggestions or am i the only one running m1 pro parellels montery ableton 10/11 with these plugins :D ?

My last guess is that the installers are not ARM optimized and therefor fail, but Soothe claims m1 compatibility but still fails ...

 

you guys won't believe this but SIP off, I went ahead and installed Pro Tools (not PT 1st) directly from here

, I did not install iLOK, I instead only installed AVID Link , then silly me starts up pro tools (which I already used the trial version for 30 days back in august) and a pop up window asked me for my iLok ID, I added the details and boom, Pro Tools works

1-do you turn gatekeeper and SIP back on after each installation?
2-do you use lil snitch or other to block any addresses and if so which ones ;)
3-how do you back up?; I have CCC but it only does time maching like stuff, no bootable clones
