It says you can only insert audio effects in an audio track but what i dragged was massive which is an instrument this happens with every vst i have is there any way to fix it please?

Audio tracks are for audio files and vst effects. Midi tracks are for midi files and vst instruments, you can then drop vst effects after you've loaded an instrument.

Drag vst instruments on to "Midi" tracks or the empty space where it says "Drop Files and Devices Here".

 

There is no way to "fix" it. it's intended behaviour. If you want to use an instrument you need to use it in a MiDi track. This is not only true for VST instruments but for Live's own instruments as well.

What the hell? So you are trying to put a MIDI instrument on an audio track and, unsurprisingly, computer says no, and then you blame the software?! Have i understood this right??

MIDai tracks are for MIDI instruments. Audio tracks are for audio files. Pretty common sense really

 

the ableton manual is one of the more friendly and readable manuals, it may be worth going through the first few chapters to save yourself similar frustrations in the future

checked and this doesn't happen with vps avenger 2 but when i drop falcon or massive the orange bar appears

 

I drop it into the blank space and the orange bar appears funnily enough when i drop vps avenger 2 which i bought this doesnt happen
