I really dig the guitar sound used by the Beatles in Paperback Writer. How can I get close to it with plugins and an Epiphone Casino Coupe electric guitar?

Actually there is a guitar like this in EastWest FabFour guitars, add your favorite cab emulator and you should have something kind of similar.

I'd really like to play my guitar if possible. Otherwise, all those years of buying, selling, trading and occasionally playing went to waste!

line 6 helix has an ok ac30 tone. Amplitube has a pretty great ac30 tone. native instruments used to make "guitar combos" that had a GREAT ac30 vst.

I checked out the vid above posted by DevilorCracker. Thank you. Some of the pairings are excellent, but sadly Paperback Writer is way off. I am grateful, but continue my search . . .

Overloud TH_U - Check out vid.

Adjust to taste, but amps were likely dimed in the studio.
Practice safe volume levels as always to protect the ear drums.

    Plexi with greenback cab
    Vox with Alnico blue cab

If I had to guess how to make it on the DAW.

    1) I'd use two amps, 1st would be the main mid tones. I'd pick AC30, the simplest one I'd suggest is Nembrini Audio's NA Voice DC30 mainly because it has a room mic. The example sound above has a lot of room tone. Use the stock AC30 cab with linked channel so yuo get to control the Brilliance and Normal channel. You have to play with the 2 microphone position (I'd suggest ribbon mics) until you get the nasal midrangey tone with tons off room tone, 3rd mic turn high. To get proper reference of this midrangey nasal tone, try LPF the reference track to remove the sizzle and just get the midrange so you can hear em clearly. At this point the overall tone will suck ass real hard but be patient.

    2) the second amp, I'd also go for the Vox (same plugin) but now with a Marshall Cab with say V30 speakers with the mightly 57 to add those high end sizzle-y extension on the tone. again play with the mic until you get that sizzles and HPF all the low end and large part of the low mid. The mid frequency already covered by the first amp, the second amp only add sizzle without brightening the overall tone.

    3) while the first amp will dominate the overall tone, try find a nice balance with the two, you might need to adjust the mic positions and sometimes flip the phase too.

    4) maybe a compressor on the bus for both tracks just to make the move together nicely. EQ needed but don't depend too much on the tone shaping or else the tone will not sound natural. Also a stealth room reverb if needed.

It's not easy and needed a lot of patience but doable, again even being a Superman is not easy and people write song about it.

Consider using EQ matching after getting reasonably close with your fuzz/amp/cab settings.
