OT: You're sure those are true line inputs (bypassing the pre amps)? Audient wrote about this:

Can I Bypass the Preamps on the iD14?

Quite simply; no you can't. The preamps of the iD14 are wired up to the convertors and there is no way around this.

    [...]

If you wanted to use the iD14 with an external pre-amp we would recommend using the ADAT or S/PDIF via the digital inputs. If your external pre is analog only then you can go into the iD14 via the line inputs but this will pass through the Pre-amp circuitry.

I believe this is about mkI and not mkII, maybe they changed it on the new hardware. Can you confirm it's true line inputs? I'm always looking for interfaces with line ins.

Why do you need a preamplifier? What are you planning to do?

lol yea that is true, its convenient though since it comes with the shell and you don't have all 300 listed in the directory. Atleast I think so, I haven't even tried them honestly just too many.

Dang man that would be so convenient if windows allowed that. I hate scrolling for like an entire minute looking for plugins, luckily they have a favoriting system, at least thety do now within FL 24.

On my win11 system with VST3 it works just like that, remove from folder and scan again in the DAW. Should I not do it like this?

Hell if I had unlimited space on a desktop I wouldnt mind, but I have to delete so much all the time and move folders to external hdd.

Dang that's awesome, I really love the orchestral libraries. I think that's why I like Ease West so much. Dang you are really versatile. I'd like to produce some country but its mainly strings, banjo and steel guitars. I wouldn't even know where to start as to what would work for that genre. I just saw this kontakt library posted on audioz. Great sounds and looks very interesting. https://audioz.download/samples/kontakt/265980-download_audio-imperia-nucleus-v130-kontakt.html

Thanks, I will have to get those. I may have some of them lol I have alot I haven't even ported the nks file over to kontakt yet.

I actually pay the $9 a month for output, its defintly interesting sounds for sure.

I just installed it but damn the librabries are huge like kontakt. Yea some of that East West is pretty epic sounding. The cinematic Symphonic Adventures is awesome, you have like the whole scores from horror classics. Most people probably dislike it but the UJAM symphonic elements are pretty bad ass too, I've yet to hear the drums ones but the STRIINGS and BRAASSS are dope.

I have to keep to keep an eye on that myself, that sounds awesome.

I will defintly look into TDR, sounds like some quality stuff. I've noticed a lot of plugins are now mutli tools pretty much not just limited to a specific task, which is cool because it's like a swiss army knife.

Pretty simple and to the point, I'm sure I'll figure out my own preferences soon enough once I get the midi controller.

Thanks, dang I have all those.

Yea that's true, I agree it's defintely all subjective, but just coming back into the scene it's like waking up from a coma and into a new world. I figured I'd get opinions from people who have been around the game a while and could steerme into a direction for the genres I am aiming to produce. I've found alot of info online about which plugins are recommended for that certain genre and what's best suited.

Thanks, I've actually seen people say this more times than not. They tell people to familiarize yourself with the built in DAW features and plugs, pretty much all one needs.

    LOL.

Thanks, yea it would be nice to have a notepad file listed of what I actually have on my system. That's why I like Pro Tools, in the drop down menus eveything is listed under that categroy specifically and it would be great for time and workflow for sure.

That's true, I've not even used but maybe a few. Thank god it comes in a shell and you can open 1 file to list all 300.. it would be hell having them all listed in the directory for sure.

I didn't know that, I know you can move some .dll and .vst files, but say its like steinberg or Ujam it will always be installed do to the excutable files installed to that specific directory.

I had too much VST and since i did a fresh install of my PC i kept the following:

Arturia, insturments and FX, Gives a ton of synth to play with and more stuff like pianos, and orchestral stuff with th eAugmented series.
NI Massive, i love the classic dubstep sound of it
NI Kontakt, must have for libraries and i like Heavyocity libraries
Orb Plugins, when uninspired to find chords this help a lot.
Ronan Fed Pneuma pro, it's a free synth packed with very good presets it kinda sound like nexus/sylenth and it's very good for trance.
Serum and Vital, both are very popular and kinda must have.

    FX:
Melodyne, when needing to pitch vocals
Cradle Orion and God Particles, very good units for mixing
T-Racks 6, gives a ton of effects and emulations, the new version have so useful plugins
Izotope RX, usefull to work with sound and do cleaning.
Mixed in keys satelite, i use this to collab with toher people it's free
Valhalla Vintageverb and Room, great reverbs
    Voxengo Span, best spectrum analyzer

I'm on Studio One and i try to use stock plugins when doing EQ and compression.

i guess you could get the fabfilter bundle, or waves, or kiloheartz, but yeah having too much plugins can be messy.

I'm using pictures I took to help me search for a VSTi whose name I can't remember. I've attached two pictures.

Wow dang you've been in the game a long time. That's awesome that you are an actual real musician too. Most electronic producers don't have the ear to hear, or the ability to read music. If it wasn't for quantizing and auto scale detectection or aligment they wouldn't be able to produce. That guy on youtube Dixonbeats says he doesn't have an ear for music nor knows anything about music theory or how to read music. LOL wow PC magazine, it's funny how technology evolves. Hell do they even publish anymore? Everythings digital now, eveythign I read is on the web these days.

Dang that's awesome, I'm sure it took a good bit of money to build that. Now most midi controllers eliminate all that hardware and gear making it a lot of more easier and convenient. Right lol good ol AOL lol, I wonder if people still use Aim lol. Bro team AiR those guys would be probably in their late 60s these days for sure, if most are even still living. I remember a few others like team H20, ASSiGN, Phr0zen crew I think and I think a group called iCe. All of them were mainly on IRC and efNET. Sorry I don't know how to quote a message here so I reply in the order i read it.

Oh yea indeed bro, I lived in the country too so my speeds were ridiculously slow, it took days to download shit on Bit/uTorent lol. Thats why it waas so great to go to proaudiozone because someone could send you files and upload to the forum. Back then hardly anyone would ever share any templates or .flps or even presets and now you can download the shit lol. It's insane how far its come in just 20 years and for Sylenth, hypersonic and nexus still being used it competely wild to me.

Man I have been trying all the synths, the sounds are freaking great quality. Cherry audio, the korg collection, aurturia, tone2, roland cloud which was the stanard back then, omnisphere its all amazing stuff and pure quality.

Right, yep with a laptop you are definitely limited. I may just get another tower unit soon. I just figured with music production and DJing it would be much esasier but hell now you can just take a portably hardrive to show your work and then plug it back into your pc. That technology wasn't even imagineble back then.

Oh yea that's defintly amazing a digital library, that's why I have so many samples. Eveyone used amples back then, some produced with nothing back samples. I have samples that are from like 2003-2010 its crazy, I didn't think the old dinosaur from 2003 when I bought it would start up but I was able to get all the sample packs on flash drive.

Thanks I will definitely look into that. I've always like Sennheiser products mainly, or Audio Technica.

Oh yea I forgot, you are right, you can move a .vst or .dll and remove it from the directory library, unless it's connected to an .exe or installation hub you have to uninstall it

Nice, you have it well organized and know exactly what you need. Heavyocity makes some great kontakt librabries, I love those sound and company.

I''ve never heard of Ronan I will have to check that one out. Not sure what Orb are either. T-Racks 6 is freaking awesome, hell you may not need any other plugins for mixing and mastering outside of that bundle.

I've never tried Bitwig, or Studio One. We only had like Fruity Loops, Propellerheads Reason, Cubase and and Ableton. Logic if you were on mac, nut hardly anyone had them back them, before Apple made their come back. I remember playing Frogger and the Oregon Trail on Apple computers, way back in 2nd grade hahah, The Oregon Trail might have been on a Packard Bell or IBM, can't remember that far back shit thats over 30 years ago.

No, I photographed and labeled all the VSTi I use with an image tool. It's a lot of work, but it's useful if you get a new operating system or have memory lapses. Rob Papen was born on October 8, 1964.
