I cant block websites in the file host from windows 11... no matter which way... applying 127.0.0.1 or 198 etc... even lookin on CMD by nslookup, nothing...
what i tried recently its the ublock origin in firefox and works great, but i wonder if it works with a plugin/vst?

or any one knows how to block some webs easy way?

    thanks in advance.

Blocking the DAW in the Firewall should be enough. I personally use TinyWall for this which just blocks everything by default, forcing the user to manually whitelist new applications.

On another laptop I use SimpleWall, which seems to work equally well. SimpleWall as Opposed to TinyWall notifies you on every new connection attempt.

Do this by adding the domains as entries in your hosts file, or get a block list like this one. https://github.com/Ultimate-Hosts-Blacklist/Ultimate.Hosts.Blacklist

Instead of 127.0.0.1, try using 0.0.0.0

Blocking websites using the Hosts file in Windows is a straightforward process. Here's how you can do it:

    1. Open Notepad as an administrator:
      • Right-click on the Notepad app icon.
      • Select "Run as administrator." If prompted, provide the administrator password or confirm the action.
    2. Open the Hosts file:
      • In Notepad, go to File > Open.
      • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. By default, the Hosts file is named "hosts."
      • Select "All Files" from the dropdown menu next to "File Name" and then choose the "hosts" file.
    3. Edit the Hosts file:
      • Add the websites you want to block at the end of the file.
      • Each entry should start with 127.0.0.1, followed by a space or a tab, and then the URL of the website you want to block. For example:
        127.0.0.1 example.com
        127.0.0.1 www.example.com

      • You can also block specific subdomains or pages by adding entries like:
        bash
        127.0.0.1 subdomain.example.com
        127.0.0.1 example.com/page
    4. Save the changes:
      • After making the necessary edits, go to File > Save.
      • Close Notepad.
    5. Flush the DNS cache (Optional):
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
      • This step ensures that the changes take effect immediately.
    6. Test the blocked websites:
      • Open a web browser and try to access the websites you've blocked. You should see an error message indicating that the site cannot be reached.
    Keep in mind:

    • You need administrator privileges to modify the Hosts file.
    • Be careful when editing the Hosts file, as incorrect entries may cause unexpected behavior.
    • To unblock a website, simply remove or comment out the corresponding entry in the Hosts file by adding a # at the beginning of the line.

try getting a utility to see what traffic is happening on your computer.
I use TCPView from sysinternals, its free and you can't get what you want, if you don't know what you want.
ie you can't block, what you don't know is going on.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/tcpview

is the download link and basic instructions on how to use it.
