Sorry to take the train on the way... but it seems to me that some Great artists and musicians did (and still do !) both things with great talent !
Just remember Bob Marley : he smoked 'grass' like a chimney... and that didn't stop him from also making Great music at the same time. He even raised his style of music to the rank of universal music !!! :boombox: *yes*

I´m very much a fan of older stuff..
Take spinaudio..; I used to love their plugins, and although, there´s newer stuff around, they can still be found at magesy.
And the links still work !
I´m not much of an uploader, but if peeps want to put those useful things on Audioz, I´ll give it a big thumbs up !
And remember....; Stuff doesn´t need to look great, it needs to sound great !

    Happy hunting !

Could we have a debate about what would be classified as essential?

Essential is, is what people are accustomed to working with, in a way...
The thread was about certain scenes leaving the scene, and nothing wrong with that.
As new scenes will show up sooner or later anyway. (We've just seen it happening ).
But in the "mean"time uploading older stuf ( which were dead links already anyway ), or even freeware..., has its merits to some folks ( like me ).
Making this forum a real professional forum.
I know, I should contribute a bit more on my part too...

What would help, is that people share their thoughts and experience, working with those 'old' plugs they USE, to help others finding their way in working with any plugin, old or new.

    Those are my thoughts....
I'm still working with spinaudio plugs and a lot of freewares, tested those to their counterparts..., and found nothing wrong with those freewares !

Again....; Essential is, is WHAT people are accustomed to working with.
If they ARE working with them in the first place, and NOT just collecting them, that is...

I'd like to see some threads, people sharing their thoughts on the plugins they use ( some of them are around here, but it's usually about how things DON'T work on their system, instead of, some ideas of their way, working with the plugs they use ).

Another thing was, is that I tried to upload Midiquest 10( a life saver for me ! ) on audioz, but now I have to use at least UL.TO or rapidshare, which is fine...
But the country I'm living in right now, doesn't give me the opportunity, doing this fast and easy..
I'd like to use mediafire and divshare for up and downloads, as they are fast, reliable and FREE...
And that's what sharing is all about, in my humble opinion.
    Ah... well......

    Maybe just a thought...

    My feeling about a lot of users here, is the following;

    Hugs !

    Good words Yubidi

I think we need to create a high-quality audio tool-kit that can do pretty much anything asked of it.

First we need to break it down and define some categories. This is not a definitive list, only some quick suggestions to generate ideas for a potential framework ... basically we are building a studio here.

For example EQ, Compression, Modulation, Filters, VSTi Synth, Midi Drums, Reverb, Delay, Kontakt Instruments, Amp Sim, Mastering Tools, Meters, Tape/Tube Saturation, Distortion, Drum Samples, Drum Machines, Pitch Shifter etc, etc.

Feel free to add, subtract or merge the categories, it's up to you guys.

After we have defined and agreed on some categories, then we can discuss what tools are the best in class for each category.

    Should be fun!

    I totally agree !!
Would be awesome, but there need to be questions about 'how to'..
Like about specific plugs ( how do I do this etc..).
Also about working with DAWs ( there are forums about how to do things in their specific DAWs), but I'd like to see those links her too !

I'm só sorry not to post any of those links, as I was stupid and mounted another motherboard, not backing up any of my favorites..
But I'll be back at this !!
    It'll be a sticky !

    Was/is a great one !
But this time, how to do things in certain plugs/daws.

    Great idea, Zenarcist !
Gimme some time..., and make audioz undeniably better !!
    Hugs !

    Edit:
Oh man..., there is already an idea like this going on, on the forum !

    Let's dig in there !
