Interesting idea and I like the concept of minimalism when it comes to tools. I'm confused why he has so many micro-edits in his video, some sections have edits every 2-3 seconds... not a second of silence LOL.

cool decision: my system contains more than 800 plugins - and I use just five or six of them.

 

i am in the process of removing everything from my main computer and starting from scratch with win10 and i am using it as an opportunity to do the same.
i will probably keep one of each type of synth etc. but i cant help but hoard distortion plugins and FSU plugins, they are always unique!
i wish i could go back to me 20 years ago and warn myself XD

 

This is so trueee. I have been having an addiction to download new plugins and trying them out. But after trying i am not able to implement them in production. I only use the fabfilter plugins in production and thats all.

 

Don't worry, you are using the best ones

 

well actually i learned from this guy.

 

My approach to staying productive is to build chains.
If I start exploring all the plugins I have installed to try out while mixing (thanks to all crews for their superb work by the way) I just lose myself.
I build chains and stick to them.
I only replace/shootout a plugin after I watched a review and think I might benefit from it.

For example, the last thing I changed I have now the Nektar 3 eq on my vocals instead of ProQ (subtractive EQ). The following mode is a big time saver. Same thing Harrison AVA De-Esser that spectral GUI so nice to have and again a time saver.

Limit yourself to chains! is my approach.

IMHO every new Plugin is a new Inspiration ;-)

 

Why delete all plugins? and keep very few, he can just hide the plugins in the DAW in the browser, and if he want to be creative in music production he need a lot of diverse plugins, he won't get very far with so few plugins.

 

When I feel I should try a new synth, I just change the skin of the one i got bored of. Enough inspiration.
