I recently set aside enough of a budget to get legitimate versions of pretty much everything I was using in the past. I finally got a clean version of Samplitude Pro X7. The only issue is, I still have a couple plug-ins I haven't purchased yet in my VST folder. Every time I go to load a project with one of them in it, Samplitude shuts down. Has anybody had this kind of problem when going legit?

PS. I'm new. So, if the question's out of line or in the wrong place, my bad.

Hello @systolic30, welcome to the forum.

Why don't you create a new folder, and copy all the *.dll you didn't buy into it. Rescan your plugins and if Samplitude still crashes, the error is somewhere else. If Samplitude is then stable, you can copy one *.dll after the other back into your VST directory until you determine which plugin is responsible for the crash.

Thanks for the reply! I've only got a few left that aren't purchased, and I tried starting a new project to test each one. They all cause an immediate crash. It's like they're failing some validation check or something if that's possible. Although, it's pretty immediate. So, I doubt it's anything super complicated.

*Actually, I just checked. It's only the two Softube plugins I have. The couple of Waves are working fine. I have a bunch of legit from Softube that are working fine. I don't know if that helps solve it at all.

Did the supposed plugins work before? Could it be that there is a blacklist in Samplitude?
The softube sometimes have problems with graphics cards (OpenGL).
Have you checked if Softube supports your sampltude at all - See System Requirements by Softube.

So, I had an earlier version of Samplitude (Pro X5) that was cracked, and it worked with both the legit and cracked Softube plugins before. The crash is only happening when I try to put one of them on a track, but the scan reads them fine because I can see the plugin names tick by on the screen when it runs through them. I don't know if it matters at all, but the same thing happens when I try to pull one of them up in my Console 1 now, and they used to work fine up until I got the legit copy of Pro X7.

Looks like a graphics problem and/or no DAW support see:

    Softube - System Requirements

In theory, any 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX (Pro Tools 11.0.2 or higher) compatible host application should work. However, due to plug-in host differences between DAWs - and our own rigorous testing standards - we only officially test our plug-ins and instruments in the most recent versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Studio One, Reaper, and Cakewalk. Softube plugins are not tested in non-listed systems, but they most likely work as long as the system requirements are met. We cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems.

    Softube - GUI/ graphic issues - Win
    1. Click the cogwheel in the upper-right corner of the plug-in window to access the settings.
    2. Scroll down and untick the box next to "Use OpenGL graphics" (for Console 1, disable OpenGL for the On-Screen Display as well - then restart the OSD)
    3. Close the settings menu to save the changes.
    4. Restart your system.

I seriously appreciate the help! I have had an issue with the OpenGL setting before, but I got it worked out with an nVidia setting. I suppose the newest version of Samplitude could be having problems with some of these plugins, but it seems odd that only the cracked ones are having an issue. So far, all the legit ones are working as usual.

Softube - System Requirements for Plug-Ins
The problem is reoccurring OpenGL renderer issues which Softube haphazardly patch and Windows updates repeatedly break.

I think if you bought Softube you would have exactly the same problem, however you could then use Softube support.
I would replace the Softube plugins in your project with others and delete Softube.

    - Update your Graphic Drive / OpenGL driver

    - Maybe this will help:
It has to do with GSYNC guys.
Go to NVIDIA Systemsettings page -> GSYNC
Then ONLY tick "Fullscreen", NOT "Windowed + Fullscreen".
That fixes it, somehow the Softube plugins really dont like GSYNC which is activated if its in "Windowed + Fullscreen" mode.

I'm not sure I know where to find that option. I looked through my nVidia control panel and the GeForce Experience page but couldn't find a setting with "GSYNC."

Just for the record, though, I currently have plenty of fully functional (iLok activated, license purchased) Softube plugins working in Samplitude. It's honestly just the couple I haven't purchased. For instance, the British Channel, Tape Echoes, Dirty Tape, Harmonics and several other plugins are working great, but the cracked FET I have crashes the DAW when I put an instance on a channel.

Either you use only bought or only cracked from one company, a mix leads to conflicts.

Gotcha. I'm kind of a novice with it. So, that's very helpful going forward. Thanks for working with me on it!

Samplitude Pro X6 and Pro X7 seems to be broken anyway,
last time I tried it, it effectively freezes every time you use any of their newer plugins, even in their demo projects,
seems to be issue related to graphics as Beat16 pointed out, but no matter what I do, it still freezes (just UI, sound plays),
frankly when I move those Magix plugins into Reaper, they don't stutter, so the problem is in Samplitude itself

That's a bummer. I'm really accustomed to the workflow in Samplitude, but yeah, if your software can't manage your own plugins, that's bad haha.

I think if you have purchased a copy of Samplitude, @Recoil ✪ on here might be able to help you figure out which version might work best for you. He posts big projects done with it working correctly.

I have a legal Samplitude Pro X6 Suite, and haven't tested Pro X7 yet because I still have Windows 7
But whenever is possible, I always use VST2 plugins in the first place, then VST3 when I have no other choice, because I know there are random problems in the Samplitude with VST3
