have you transitioned from skype to teams yet?

how did you find the process, is it still free? is it almost the same? is there a catch?

or have u transitioned to something else?

 

For users, it's free. Companies have to pay each month. Pretty clever what Microsoft did: they bought Skype and then they killed it. During the Pandemic they let companies and users use teams for free, so everybody adopted it. And once the user base was big enough they decided: "Okay, let's charge them now".

Summary of Development

• 2020–2021: Stability with a focus on free usage during the pandemic.
• 2022: First price increase of about 10–20% for Microsoft 365 plans.
• 2023: Discontinuation of the free business version, exchange rate adjustment (+11% in Europe).
• 2024: Introduction of a standalone Teams plan, Teams Premium as an additional option.
• 2025: No major changes so far, prices stable at around €4–25 depending on the plan.

 

2025 already, isn't time to move to a decentralized open source solution? i.e. matrix ecosystem

 

Matrix is a good idea for sure.
But most "regular" ppl will use Teams as Skype "continuation".

When you speak about video conf, most ppl think Skype/Teams, Zoom ...
I didn't heard anyone around me speaking about Matrix.

It is a kind of "Linux" situation : YES it is better, but as almost no one use it ...

Microsoft Windows has 71%, followed by Apple's macOS at 16%, unknown operating systems at 8%, desktop Linux at 4%, then Google's ChromeOS at 2%

There is not a single line about Matrix ... probably less than 2%

 

I transistiond, but changed my mind and switched back. They still haven't sent me back my testicles. I'm waiting till the end of the month and then starting a class action lawsuit with the FCC and the "Man,BOy, Woman Haters Klub" as amicus curiae, or friend of the court.

I found Teams lowered my Testosterone (well since they remove your testicles, this would be the natural outcome), and while I welcomed having to shave only twice a day, rather than hourly, I found the experience of constant self reflection and wondering if I was good enough and do people really like me or is it just the way I dress, and am I gaining weight or is it just water, etc. to be

1. exhausting

2. distracting
and

3 my breasts were always tender.

so back to Skype and a Man's LIfe for this Sailor..

Still probably under 2%, I agree with you but we need to move slowly from the centralized autarchism of the big tech companies to decentralized open source ecosystems.

Messaging & social media platform management must be open source and decentralized otherwise we live like in a virtual jail.

Not in one day but let's think about it.

does it still have the "onlyfiends" or is that "onlyfans" plugin? asking for a friend, a very sad, lonely friend who bought a box of chocolates on Valentines day, only to find they were all mock frog covered in chocolate. We really need better standards for protocols and for imported chocolates from dodgy asian countries as my grandfather used to tell me as he was hacking cat2 cables and selling them out of his trunk(boot)at family reunions next to the bootleg liquor stand and by the scratch off cards to win a haggis.
