I think it would be a valuable experience to experience a proper famous studio, even for one time...

Maybe there's 1 day tour, or maybe a really short course at one

Ive been to too many to list, but the coolest to me, was Capitol Records studio. What made it so cool, was the studio tech took me down into the basement to see the echo chambers. Iconic chambers, and i got the rare opportunity to actually see them. Such a cool experience.

 

I've been in Capitol which was like a dream being there. Because of this thread I've decided to, even if it's just one song, record a tune of mine singing and playing an acoustic guitar at Electric Lady Studio the next time I'm in NYC. I've walked by it thousands of times, listened to lots of albums recorded in that hallowed ground but was never inside.

My friend worked there as a mix engineer.

go to a zoo in a major city. it doesn't need to be a secret. It will still be an impressive collection; even if it is just a bunch of stinky animals.

 

I went to a zoo once and there was only one dog on display. It was a Shih Tzu.

some of them are museums like Paisley Park (Prince’s) in Minnesota, or like Motown in Detroit. when i had an international tour i got invited to Abbey Roads in London, it was cool i guess

i dont really know what youre expecting but its never been like a magical thing or something that i felt was really special being in those places personally. its the people that make those places special, its not really the place itself imo

now when i was in Poland and i went to the Holocaust concentration camp museum, that was crazy asf - being in those famous studios i didnt really feel anything. it was mostly hyping that Paul McCartney or whoever used this, which is okay i guess, id much rather meet Paul or Prince

 

I was working there for a week or so, producing / engineering for an artist. Im not sure if they offer a tour. I feel like many studios will give a tour if you contact their studio manager and ask nicely. Just search online for the contact, and write them!

Ive been to FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama on a field trip with my jazz band class when i was in high school.. We were there all day.. We met Wynton Marsalis and got to sit in on some of his mastering session.
