Thats because you dont know his work, period.
Just for your information i have a huge selection of composers on my HDD,HZ is just one of many.
HZ can be simple yet complex.
People bashing him usually dont know his material well.

Pirates of the Carribean is taking the lead? really?
    Really poorly Orchestrated.
    Oh well...
The best has to be Inception. Period.
    Lol

I suppose I didn't really account for the repetition effect (as those in the industry refer to Teh Frame's output) but I've prolly seen that Batman trilogy more often than Star Wars, and I can't remember anything about the Bat-score except random synth patch #3674 played at c0, c-1 and c-2 simultaneously (fuck that's simultaneously simple and complex!) which was followed by bursts of Hauptwerk played by a cat. Or was that Inception? Or Interstellar or?

    Really poorly Orchestrated

It would be interesting if someone cud find a well orchestrated score by Teh Frame. Well, not interesting per se. But unique, perhaps?

Batman trilogy is more sound design.
You clearly dont know his work very well in fact you are taking the same bashing routine as any other random Zimmer trashing person on the internet.
People who put a lot of time into producing and scoring know how much effort each score takes and so value and respect the game AND the players, those who bash usually dont know hard work.
    His catalogue is huge.

WTF does John Williams have to do with this thread lmao, people calm down its not a competition its a thread with a poll for a HZ "best" score.
Always the same shit,x is better than y....relax....

  7. I can't vote because as best I tried could not summon up a memorable melody that stuck in my memory. I saw most of the movies on the poll list, and though I remember thinking that the music fit well with the visuals, nothing remarkable stands out in my memory, which may or not be a good thing. What I always felt were great soundtracks were Henri Mancini's Pink Panther, Maurice Jarre's work with Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, John William's soundtrack from Jaws, Vangelis and his Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire, and probably my all time favorite of all time, Leonard Bernstein with Stephan Sondheim 's phenomenal West Side Story. I am a troll and beg forgiveness.

Batman trilogy is more sound design

And yet you can vote for it as a score/soundtrack. In this topic. Ditto Inception. Ditto Interstellar. Ditto... My original point remains, very little (if any) of his output is memorable. Worse, none of this "sound design" is even affecting.

People who put a lot of time into producing and scoring

Come now, everyone in this topic knows that this is not an accusation that can ever be levelled at Hans Zimmer! Teh Frame has a template, and sticks rigidly and dogmatically to it. Vote now! Best potboiler!

    His catalogue is huge

    Quantity > quality?!

Why not instead vote for the score that paid him the most $ then? Actually, we shud just list them in $ order. I think Pirates still wins, however.

Most of his work is very memorable.Yes,maybe his work in the last 10 years has been hit and miss, with great scores for Inception,Interstellar etc,yet very average cartoon scoring.
Have you any idea how much effort it takes writing a set of songs like that?
Yes he may have a lot of help, but still,it can drive you crazy, its exhausting and you have to reinvent yourself again and again...

Unique is a polite way of admiring orchestration.
There is good and bad orchestration.
Schubert Symphonies are badly Orchestrated and that doesn't mean he is a bad composer.
BTW, Pirates of the Carribean Theme was NOT composed by Hans Bedroom.

    caribbean DAMN it

I'm not sure any of it is, to anyone, beyond a few robo-zealots / family pets. I honestly believe that after he crafted his most memorable piece (Going For Gold theme) one of his associates told him "Hans, u gotta fucking Hollywood ur shit up man if u wanna make it big: add sum motherfucking strings to this motherfucking plain waveform! duuuude!"

I think that's exactly what he's done ever since. The worst thing is that this kind of thing (mixing tech with traditional orchestra / instruments) should be exciting. In the hands of Teh Frame, it is almost universally banal and almost instantly forgettable.

    was NOT composed by Hans

Funnily enough, that wouldn't surprise me.

Well, i like Mark Mancina's scores but this doesn't block me from admiring the sound that comes to my ears watching dark knight.Yes it was elementary school's "notes in a raw" but the overall sound was astonishing.I don't care if he started a melody in A minor or a fuga pentatonic. What excites me is the way a group of people managed to record edit bend twist and glue some sounds that gave that massive effect and made the movie itself have an impact.I know how they did it but if i try the hardest, i still won't be able to produce that sound. That is what drives me to keep experimenting and has me admiring those people.

Take a sh**ty song for example, that was made by a known producer.Let's say Timbaland. The beat is innovative, yet simple enough to be made by a 12 year old. Then try to do it yourself, achieve that particular sound, and sell it to the people. :woot:

This is what keeps us apart from all those people who succeeded even if we dislike them. :guru:

Of course u did! I thought that Hans' Spongebob score was alright, I suppose, so I had 2 sample it - no wonder u loved it! I expect Teh Frame had some leftover hornpipe / bugle shit from Pirates and just used a different Omnisphere preset to cover it up, or whatevs. I don't rly pretend 2 know how teh master's process works. It's shrouded in mystery, that's why he was such a good choice 4 the Batman score that nobody can fucking remember. Like Batman crossed with date rape! OMG teh genius of the man! etcs.

    even if we dislike them

I'm not some superfangirl of Teh Frame. I'm not a hater, either. I may be a troll >__> I'm just not sure that it's worth devoting a topic to his dull ouvre. I have watched all of the films except Crimson Tide, and found the scores to be (at best) an irritating distraction to the action and at worst absolutely forgettable.

people managed to record edit bend twist and glue some sounds that gave that massive effect

I would also like to point ur discerning ears at the magnificent THX demo! A masterpiece! Oscar-me-do!

U like him. But haven't explained why. But u have tried 2 argue with urself a lot. I mean (to paraphrase) saying "he's done hit and miss cartoon shit for 10 years" which is perhaps more dislike than I've evah shown towards Teh Frame. I just think he's a mediocre hack with a D-Minor template for any occasion. If there was less work for Teh Frame and the likes, maybe there'd be more innovation in film scores?

Anyway, sry Producer, if I condescened on u, wasn't meant. I thought I was being sarcastic about nostril-bleed sound design, but it is a rly serious business like all business on teh internets. (I had no idea u were/are sound designer? ):

Im not arguing,im chilling, drinking dark beer and enjoying myself, watching Risky Business and reading your smart answers.
HZ is a huge talent and very down to earth.
Its so easy to classify someone as a hack from a safe distance and in full anonymity.
I guess this is the time when you show us your aces, your links to your music so we can compare your work with him.
After all you did call him a hack, which means you have to prove with your work that you are a far better composer, producer and song writer :)
