Thread of all threads, which one is "the best".
Many scores to choose from,i will add most but not all for voting.
Vote for the one you think was his best or made the biggest impact on you or the music industry.
Hard to vote with so much great material so you can vote twice, for two scores.
I vote for Days of Thunder and Inception, just because of bad ass synths, drums and guitars, great songs and very uplifting mood(Days of Thunder) and powerful in your guts orchestra and raw, beautiful energy(Inception).

Note; You have two chose two options before you hit the vote button, otherwise it will register only one vote.

Firs is easy..Rain Man....nothing imo can beat that. Second is a lot harder. I like most Gladiator, Pirates of the Carribean and Crimson Tide. Those themes really define those movies. I could miss other themes in particular movies, but not those three.

Voted Gladiator because The Battle. For the second, I'd say something different. Le Petit Prince because of the amazing chamber setting and most of all, originality. Love what he did here to escape the standard huge epic trailery sound:

i think there should be an option on the poll " I dont like any of Hans Zimmer's soundtracks"

of course he has some really cool sounds , the man is using state of the art equipment and studio enviroments and usually hires real live orchestras to play those fancy oboes and percussion he uses in his tracks

of course the millions of like's and praises he get's on his youtube videos would say otherwise

i guess to each his own , but i cant hear where is the music-the melody in his tracks , its just a bunch of clear epic sounds mashed together in a really good mixed and finalized track

then again one could say , show us what you got and then speak , the comparison would be useless, since for each person the best music is that which he likes to listen to ,or produce. This applies to me , so just to make it clear im not dissing anyone who admires Hans Zimmer.
It just feels to me that certain artists have been so much praised and blown up by the media that it can make listeners believe that their work is godlike when its really simply not

To be honest most of the tracks you guys have made and uploaded here on various posts sound a lot better , maybe some of them not so much in production or clear sounds but still better in musicality.

@Batoumba; this is not thread about whether you like Zimmer's work or not. And in some degree i agree with your opinion, but there were a lot of debate in past why he is so respected in film industry and quality he have. In short he is versatile, can adapt and have vision.

And now please, can we stay on topic?

That was my opinion as well, years ago. Then i started do dig deep into his catalogue.
Also the more you produce and write your own material the more you realise the man is a genius.

Gladiator, Pearl Harbor and The Rock aren't fair choices, as HZ didn't compose their score in its entirety.
Other great people contributed to those soundtracks as well.

Klaus Badelt and Lisa Gerrard contributed on Gladiator and Pearl Harbor and Nick Glennie-Smith contributed to The Rock.
And IMHO I enjoyed the Main Title for The Rock by Nick much more than HZ. Nick's version feels more 'mature' :)

Though if I absolutely had to choose, this would be it:

Yes Andrew i agree, also not mentioning several ghost writers, but still he is the driving force, role model and a tutor to many.

So far Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean are leading the poll.

His methods are original, but not always suitable for the context at hand, in my opinion. It's a big name in the industry, mainly due to his legacy. But truth be told, it's my least favourite composer partly because of the 'hype' he builds around himself (based on his interviews) and the fact that most of his modern recordings (starting with Batman Begins) are quite bad sounding with lots of unnecessary processing.

Gladiator was a masterpiece, no doubt about that. But so was lots of other scores by other composers:
    John Barry
    Basil Poledouris
    Harry Gregson-Williams
    John Debney
    Trevor Rabin
    Michael Giaccino
    and MANY others.
