    Hello,

I'm trying to get this sound. Please listen to the fist few seconds of this song.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THAOAdJ9OoI&feature=kp

I am trying to make a similar sound to that crunchy-choke guitar sound. I read in an interview to Greg Mackintosh (guitarist of Paradise Lost) that most of the album's special effects were done with guitars and vst effects, including this particular one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a wah wah+phaser and a Beat Slicer, like in Guitar Rig.(maybe)

Here is an simple example of the Beat Slicer: https://soundcloud.com/my-darkside/example-for-demon

I'm not sure what you're referring to exactly. Right guitar? Left? Both?

Anyway, the general approach would be:
    - Distortion/Drive
    - Chorus (a lot)
    - Delay
    - Wah
    - Maybe a phaser
    - Some reverb
    - Gate
    (- Automated filter?)
    - EQ - Cut around 120, moderately boost around 500, cut a bit around 1k-2k, boost at 5k-8k quite a bit, cut some air. Overall, something like this: Low (--), Lo-Mid (+), Mid (-), Hi-Mid/Treble, (++), Air (-- [~16k])
    > Put in blender

    Dunno if that helps.

I think he means the "crunchy-choke guitar" in the middle.

I somehow missed that line, pff. :dunno:

Well then, I guess Wah + Syncopated, stylish playing. (And phaser?)
