One more b3 emulation?
And I thought that Arturia's was the definitive one ...

 

Laugh all you like, but do you know that Avid's (Pro Tools) proprietary, simple, B-33 is actually rather good as well? Of course all depends on how you use it, but I purposely come to its defense. Having said this I'm not sure many of you still use Pro Tools in the first place though I mustn't stray off-topic.

 

There aren't nearly enough, tbh! =) Choice is between original VB3 & Blue 3, pour moi.

What does it offer that the Arturia's B3 does not?

 

Authentic sound.

The GSI VB3 has actually been around for ages. Not sure why they release this, they pretty much nailed it the first time - way before arturia.

 

:D Yeah, exactly. I've played around with it a lot (VB3 #2) and a lot of the "clean" presets are much moar fun. I think I messed around with some preset (called Sweet!) for aaages. The kinda "low" (C2-C3) ish attacks seem much better. Seems to respond better to velocity too. I'm not sure if it's just familiarity / nostalgia with the old VB3 (I expect so) is clouding my opinion of some A/B presets tho. There's a lot of stuff kinda under the hood that you can mess around with easier, nao. It's really fun to play, tho, which is the main thing. I've never ever said that about anything Arturia, beyond a few of their (very) early softsynths. Difficult to choose between VB3 & Blue...

 

I dunno, prolly a lil bit! :D (I think it relates to how quickly or slowly the percussive stuff (attack) "closes". Or something.)

Doesn't a B3 emu itself spoil the authenticity? Sustain pedal as fast/slow switch? Tonewheel set? Leslie cabinet tonal settings? Laurens Hammond thought a Leslie cabinet would spoil the authenticity of his Hammond organs. So, who's to say. Technology moves on.....a wireless telephone? NOOOOOOO !
