Radical way.

1. Uninstall all Steinberg stuff. All. Plugins,standalone, managers, libraries etc.

2. Install it again but choose releases of single team. R2R or VR. Don't mix them. It's possible that this is a root of your problem, products aren't registered correctly (and they can't be as R2R and VR make it differently).

 

Do I need R2RCERTTEST.exe?

These (GA and Backbone) were working perfectly for years, so if it was needed, I must have had it.

Recently tried to get it from sister site but links are dead.

I have the R2R Silk Emulator.

 

There are three folders that come with GA, that appear to be necessary to copy over the installed ones:

Content
Steinberg
VST3

Where should those folders be located?

 

I can't give you all answers as I don't use R2R.

'VST3' should go in 'Common Files' as usual?
'Steinberg should go to 'Program Files'?
'Content' may be placed where you want? Just register it properly.

Use search if GA is installed. Look at files you need to replace in these folders, search some filenames in the whole filesystem. Find "Groove Agent.vst3" and replace it etc.

 

What do you use? V.R.?

 

so you mixed R2R and VR releases?
that would change everything

I felt it was an auth issue only, it happens all the time, but if you mixed the releases its harder

-please write the exact names of the releases you have installed
i.e. Steinberg Groove Agent 5 v5.2.10-R2R
ie Steinberg Groove Agent 5 Content-R2R
and nothing else? Sure? check the packages you have

-post a screenshot of the Steinberg Lib app, are you sure you athorized the libs? with Register in Place?
-post a screenshot of GA with its browser visible, no alert windows on top

as I told you if you use R2R only and use the Steinberg Lib app you can put the vstsounds whereever you want, you have just to "register in place" or drag and drop the file into the Lib app, no need to "copy over the installed" or whatever. It works like a charme, 100% like the legit

now I dont understand anymore what you did because I see more confusing infos

 

It is not radical. Sometimes it is called "Save and Pave". Backup any work product files, and nuke it back to square one. R2R even frequently suggest uninstalling any old versions, even when they are not aware of another Team's release conflicting with theirs.

Once the install is beyond reasonable repair/recovery, it can often be much faster to do that. This thread is 12 hours old already. That is a multiple of the time it should have taken to fix this already.

 

I guess ill try the V.R. version.

unnecessary for Steinberg apps, thanks to the architecture of the sofz and to R2R's silk emu you can act like installing a legit update: just overwrite

(if you didnt mix any VR's steinberg obviously )

because the info are confusing, starting from the title and the first post

the problem is not in GA installation and not in R2R's version, I asked him to verify it and we are now sure that the app works

the problem is in the libraries "register in place" system
I think you know GA or the way Steinberg has to register libraries or sound banks, its a bit tricky at start, but it works in the end, and you should know that sometimes it loses auth when installing updates, its pretty common, thats why we have that trick of copy-past R2R's file into the activation folder

anyhow now is done for me, because I dont know VR's version at all, I just know it works as good as R2R's

I do appreciate everyone trying to help.

I tried register in place, but it didn't work.

I remember it took me a few days to get it to work upon initial install two or three years ago.

I got it to work by persistence, perseverance and patience, then.

I will do so again, now.

Still, if there is anyone else out there who has an idea, thanks, in advance!

Just to recap: This is a library hook up issue.

Groove Agent installs fine, but the libraries (all of them) won't actually load the samples or presets, even when Steinberg Library Manager says they are registered. (I have tried all the options in SLM.)

 

When I try to register a library with SML I get a message that says:

No action was performed! The corresponding VST Sounds are already registered.

When I try to load a kit under "All Instrument Sets", " ALL AGENTS" appears, but when clicked, on there is nothing in the search box.

If I click on "Rescan Disk" a percussion agent, or description might appear temporarily, then disappear when clicked on, so I can't actually load anything.

I can get SML to actually say a Library is Registered, but it still doesn't appear in GA search or load its samples.

Where is the registration?

Does it have to do with R2R Silk Emulator, or an Elicenser or something?

 

Well, I finally got it to work!

I did try V.R. version, but no luck.
Uninstalled with Geek Uninstaller.
Updated R2R Silk Emulator
Installed R2R GA and Lo, and Behold it began working!
LOL!

 

What is strange is when I first installed GA-R2R years ago, I never once used SML (was concerned to even opened it) yet, got ALL the libraries and extra content to register and load just fine.

This time I haven't used SML yet, either, but while I can get the additional libraries to register, I haven't yet gotten the main factory kits to register, so far.

Patience and perseverance ALWAYS does the trick. (But, advice from those who "know" is good and appreciated!

 

SOLVED!

Well, more like figured out what was SOOOO obvious from the start.

In my second post I noted that "samples were missing".

I had inadvertently " trashed" them when Steinberg Library Manager offered that option, when removing a library. You can unregister them, or move them to the trash. I did not realize it literally moves all the sample files to the trash, removing them permanently! (Didn't seem like a logical action to remove them permanently , but just to trash their presence in the library manager, I thought.)

I simply had to retrieve the original files, put them back in place, and voila', everything back to normal!

Appreciate everyone's attempt at help!

P.S. In the interim of this little adventure, I did try the V.R version, then went back to the R2R version, with no major problem. Interesting.
