    i'm in love,

Everytime i listen to these sorts of bands dated from the 60'S~70'S i always think i would have lived during this period.

Do i phantasm about an edge i didn't knew ?
I often answer myself : "yes" to reassure me we're not living in bad times, at the beginning of the end of a society model, but i know in the depth of my soul it was a different time, with more liberties and innocence.

This music seems to be the result

    Softmachineeeeeeeeeeeee---> to today's soft power : (

    ...

    YAHHHHHHHH

EDIT : Really, i didn't knew more than 50 % of this band and tracks and it's magic. Huge thanks

People took the time to fiddle around with their instruments these days. That's why their music sounded so original.
Today they're fiddling around with their smartphones doing stupid things like telling others that they have no time making music

I believe that composing music like the great selection you just posted is achieved best by leaning back, relaxing and not trying to sound like anybody else. If you take enough time, just sit down with only your instrument and nothing else, the chance to find your own style is probably much higher.

People, make some music and keep doing your very own thing

Awesome post i just got VERY VERY nostalgic..

And all in here you must agree that taperecording and released on vinyl sounds alot better then recording to a computer and released a CD.

It is more raw and more rock n roll then digital no wonder why all big boys like AC/DC refuse to record to Pro-Tools they want a tape machine instead.

    Cool stuff!

I'm always amazed at how GOOD some this old stuff sounds, without the aid of any of our modern 'fix-its' in the studio. These guys made records the good old way- learn the hell outta your music and work your ass off in the studio til it sounds awesome!

    How pretencius I am!
I thought that already know everything good... thanks!
I store this links to see everything and I am very happy today! :grooves:
Rarely I have a progressive band here in the studio, but is endless the hours that they spend to record and with their experiments. :excl:
Its a shame that this post was poorly thanked, mainly because the music of today is really poor and when the musicians do something interesting they repeat the past thinking that they are genius!
Be aware that I LOOOVE new techs and toys, but again is a shame that today we can do so much easely, but the music itself are raps with one or two chords, spoke insted singing, write insted playing, visual instead ears, djs "composing" wihout playing a real instrument, cut and paste (because they cant repeat), hours to record a tunable voice, and so on.... :wow:
Well, we must found a DINO CLUB :mates:
... just to estimulate youth to learn from the past or someone thing that the only thing good from the past is vintage gear? :dunno:
Its priceless what we learn here!
    Thanks a lot NIKON!

Awesome topic and posts! The 60s and 70s is a seemingly endless goldmine of great music. Great musicians and bands trying to do their own thing, original tracks (and no fucks given for radio-friendly track lengths lol).

Although they apparently started touring in '68, Burnin' Red Ivanhoe played through the 70s (and are still playing concerts to this day - 46 years touring :guitarhero: ) so close to on topic hehe, and their psychedelic progressive jazz rock is def. in the same vein as some of the bands posted. I love these guys and never miss a chance to see them live. Their studio albums, although great, doesn't really do them justice so here's some live takes from recent years of a coupe of their early tracks :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsC7OzY13WQ

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=238YJA0ioEs

(had a really hard time picking them lol, the various other live versions on youtube are worth checking out as well)

also stumbled on this 76min 2nd set of a concert if 2 tunes wasn't enought lol :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYR0zzsQdaw

(it's from their 40th jubilee concert so there's some talking and anecdotes between the tunes, still stellar musicianship though! and a better showcase of their guitarist's talents than the above 2 tracks)
