Can anyone recommend a good quality Grand Piano sample but with a smaller data size than some of the NI packs that are currently available?

    Any advice gratefully received!

The sampletekk (?) White Grand Jr is the best I found. Needs Kontakt.

150Mbs - sounds very nice. IMO far better than some of the far larger versions.

Would definitely go for the Synthogy JR versions. Around 1 GB per piano, haven't heard anything better for this size.

If you want small (really, really small..) but good (really good) try Modart Pianoteq 2.2. It is not sampled based and only 36MB!!!
You must try it before you dismiss it as a toy because a toy it is not.

    Ciao

For practicing or playing live it might be OK, for more I think not. It can't survive the comparison even to a not so good sampled piano, in my opinion.

Yeah, that Synthogy is v good - just tried one. Nice. But still, 800Mb as opposed to 150 for the sampletekk white grand JR......and both need Kontakt?

I'd go for the white at 150mbs, then if ain't good enough go synthogy.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Bardstown Bosendorfer library. It's 2.65 GB in size, but it sounds pretty nice: http://audioz.info/samples/12655-bardstown-bosendorfer-290-grand-piano-24-bit-nki.html

I am now a fan of the Synthogy piano - it puts that Sampletekk white grand to shame actually. Thanks for the advice. It's beaut - and has built-in strings - nice.

    I told you before *yes*

For the file size, it's the best, IMHO.
If it can be bigger, the Galaxy pianos are great.
