Hello, i just received this message from distrokid:
    -------------------------- START OF EMAIL -------------------------------------
    Hi,

    Hope you are well.

We've been notified by stores and streaming services that one or more of your releases has been rejected due to editorial discretion.

Unfortunately, stores are no longer accepting releases from you via DistroKid. You’ll need to try another distributor for future releases.

Please understand that DistroKid is unable to assist with reversing this and many DistroKid features have also been restricted as a result of this. We have no other information or context, and we are unable to get involved or take sides when this occurs. We’re just the messenger, passing along this info to you in hopes you find it helpful.

We understand that this email is probably frustrating to you, and we regret having to be the messenger of bad news. However, we hope this email is helpful, and we thank you for your understanding.

    Best,

    August
    DistroKid Support
    -------------------------- END OF EMAIL -------------------------------------

I have no idea why, all i did is uploaded my piano music to distrokid, which is all 100% original, written by me, and played by me. The only reason i could think of is that it my tracks were about 1 minute long.

The weird thing is that they don't seem willing to give any sort of explanation about anything

    any ideas?

Benn Jordan recently had all his music removed from all major platforms because someone, somewhere, working at his music distribution service thought "well, I feel like banning this guy to the shadow realm". No justification, no warnings, they just didn't give a fuck, the only reason Benn managed to keep his music online was because he is a known figure in the production community. I can only imagine what they do to other artists, this is fucked up and I'm fucking tired of streaming platforms and distribution companies.

I could understand if this was some kind of gangster rap shit that went beyond the pale of any sort of reasonable language or content decency barrier. But, solo piano content? Use a piano go to jail now eh? Ridiculous. Sounds like a boycott of distro-kiddie may be in order?

disclaimer, im not bringing politics into this, so dont go there.

That being said, ive heard rumors that pro Palestinian group, PAL Action, has been claiming hate speech, copyright infringement etc on people who are openly pro Israel, or even people with a jewish sounding name.

Well I found this reddit thread. maybe it helps you to understand it better: https://www.reddit.com/r/WeAreTheMusicMakers/comments/71fago/distrokid_and_editorial_discretion/

If that is also the reason why your music isnt distributed anymore then its so dumb...what kind of censorship is this to say "we have enough of music that sounds similar", well then also ban every pop song because the same argument you could apply to these aswell...

hope you can sort this out soon and release your Music again

Ditched them as soon as I stumbled upon issues like this on You Tube (that goes back even many years ago), they are shady company and should be avoided, same as Spotify and etc.

What's crazy to me is the marketing. I've tried researching the various "artists" from their ads and I've found nothing. Seems to be 100% fake testimonials in their ads. You can't even find these supposed artists or small mention of them on their own platform.

You should go over the TOS.

Because if you paid the 23 bucks and are in the USA even if they have a no cause clause (which will no withstand judicial review if anyone ever actually takes it to task - as no arbitrary breech without at least in the minimum partial remuneration ever has) they need to provide you with at least with term of breech.

Is 23 bucks worth a couple of million in legal bills, well that is the crux of the issue now. Best you can do is get your 23 dollars back or a reason for the breech.

I would hazard a guess that the reason would be a copyright claim. People are getting copyright claims on music that is over 3000 years old just because some AI sound bot or human sound bot think Didi Twikletoes wrote the music for Frère Jacques on her kids youtube channel in 1998.

but then you did -- could have at least put some sources or links to reputable news services or even someone claiming injury. That would have been interesting.

It's politics, and I've got people around me getting the same thing for countless of their accounts and services out of nowhere just because their political stance online. It started with Banking and online wallets, anything finance and now it's spreading to money making platforms slowly. It's not really allowed to discussed here as per forum's rule but it's happening whether one want to believe it or not. People share about how they are getting banned on everything one by one for speaking out their mind on X (formerly Twitter) too. Hard to learn about this since everything is censored and even search function not working correctly. Good luck on being on the right side of the history whatever that will be, hard to get info about which one is the right one. Fuck censorship on internet, fuck all the boomer politician cunts for still using old tactics.

You can release even a track lasting 10 seconds. I mean, no one can tell what you have to do with your pieces. The thing they are doing is totally illegal, and no law can justify this BS.

Since you paid them to be provided with their service, they need to give a reasonable explanation why it has happened to you. Wow, what a garbage distributor.

It seems like they are an ultimate scammer.
