Believe me, my cousing which once tried Butch Vig plugin on his i5 2y.o. laptop with 6gb of ram, asked me why is so laggy in controls movement, even the whole GUI(meters). I didn't have it installed, but when i did (i own Nvidia GT630) there was no lag on my dual monitors setup whatsoever.

With the new plugins it's not about just the DAW's algorithm performance, but actually the whole experience. Especially the integrated graphics cards of Desktop PCs with 1080p resolution or laptops with integrated gpus as well they don't seem a safe bet until you actually seal your concerns by investing into a dedicated silent GPU.

Is there any benefit in a card with parallel processing capability?
Will the GPU really do much work?

If it's a weak gpu, it might get overwhelmed on full 1080p "live" behavior of the plugin's GUI, especially if that plugin's GUI features GPU support.
A good enough silent GPU will ensure your smooth visual experience in the future, especially since most of the devs now started implementing the GPU support thing.

Just curious. Can I ask why you have 8 hard drives?? :wow:...

    I dont see 8 HDD's in my PC :D

My video card fans no spin until 60 degrees. Read the link. The new Maxwell GPU's are well balanced when heat come in discussion
