I've been considering using this as well, I'm just kinda wary about reformatting :P and I've heard of some issues with Ice and FL studio. (can anyone confirm?)
Let me know how it works out for you, would ya?

I made the post the post about 7 Ice no bugs were reported. Many people reported to have everything perfect, what's kind of problem did you encounter?

for audio - no no, and NO!
stay on win7 for 2 more years minimum
    ...before even think about "update"

    ---edit 1
system updates are also back-porting all that win10 spy/mal/crapware, use already available privacy tools to fix most of the garbage.

read, read, and read again about known/proven data leaks.
we gotta treat Microsoft as hostile; any future update cannot be trusted
    to keep your data private!

I've blocked everything on Win 10 and it's still doing random stuff, it's as though it's got a mind of it's own

If I switch from win7 to win7 ice, what's a good way to keep myself from having to reinstall everything?
I hate starting from scratch! lol

Me personally I have and will continue to stay with Windows 7, custom tweaked, Never been connected to the internet, and never had any problems with plugins or DAW Software. I also do not run any AV software and have my process tweaked for maximum power

Very good for taming and tuning your processes.
    https://bitsum.com/processlasso/

good program to trim the fat from your version of windows 7
    https://www.winreducer.net/information.html

and if you have to stay connected to the internet, very excellent app to enhance your security using windows built in firewall. This tools has worked for me on even some of the toughest programs with phone home capabilities.

I'm off topic here but I was wondering why this place does not have a Tips and Tricks forum

Stuff like links to these windows things. Tuning guide etc etc.
Solutions to problems I see the same software issues come up over and over again.. Get it in one place.
Daws and Production, To me this is what people would love, Teach us tricks time savers.. etc. Maybe Product Reviews

ok Im back.. I kinda drifted :)

No one's mentioned going from W7 -> W8(.1). Basically it has the speed of W10 (tickless kernel) without the whackiness of W10.

what's this? do you just install software and run it or is there stuff you gotta do manually?
    EDIT:
    I see,
is it necessary to purchase processlasso?
I don't think I'm going to buy winreducer.

you have to put in the effort, but it is worth it. process lasso is very good if you have a multi-core system in tuning the processes and services that run on your system and it has some preset settings that work good, but you can dive in and fine tune it even more.

    Process Lasso

And the winreducer has a very good tutorial online at the site. This was on youtube.

Windows Firewall Control Demo, NOTE: Mute the lame audio :)

I recommend you to install some of the Windows 7 x64 "lite" versions, or "black edition lite" versions. They run better than the stock W7 and there's less things you have to tweak to make it run smoother. At the time I've tested various of these lite versions, and I was satisfied the most with "Windows 7 lite by nil" version. It also takes like 15 minutes to install it, if not less.

I've been just tinkering with some W8.1 x64 lite versions today and must tell you that I'm pretty satisfied with how it works, but you simply have to install "Start8" or "Classic Shell" to work with it normally, or use desktop and taskbar shortcuts for starting programs, which most of the people do, actually.
