How is FL12 running on Win10?
Is there a major difference between 7 and 10?

    Windows is like DAWs.
    Your DAW is like plugins.
Changing windows does not have considerable effects on running your DAW faster but maybe just lowering crashes. But on FL studio, nothing happens.

    I'm glad I didn't upgrade to Win10. Whats next?
Oh yeah the end of cloud free computing.. Win10 is always phoning home.

They have plans for us whether we like it or not.

What ever you like it or not windows 10 will be downloaded in your windows 7, you can't stop it.
With new update windows 7, 8 all will be phoning home anyway.

there are many ways around that.

For our purpose (DAW), You don`t have to be "connected"
You can always use another OS to browse the web

I have stopped it :bleh: It can be blocked.
Haven't had that icon or any downloads in a over a month now

Personally, I like to think I have a choice in this matter. I don't want big brother looking over my shoulder and will do anything to stop it on my side. Am I going to passively roll over without a fight?

    Hell No

Keep on Windows 7. I'm on 10 and had my jbridge stopped working properly and I had to find workarounds for different things which were never a problem on 7. Having said that after I've made the workarounds and bought software it's ok

Only if you like to troubleshoot your system, tweak here and tweak there, ask in forums how to make something work etc.

Some will say "it works smoothly for me". But it doesn't work smoothly for everybody. W10 is still almost like playing lottery, not to mention a plethora of telemetry crap, and incompatibilities with some hardware. I really can't understand why would someone trade a perfectly running operating system for something newer when this newer is more troublesome, and you don't gain any performance, or ease of use? As Foster911 said - your DAW will work the same, just with more or less crashes.

    Cheers!

I use both. However, as has been mentioned, Windows 10's incessant penchant for inexhaustibly "updating" the system can make you snatch you hair out in chunks. Drives me absolutely nuts! I'm fortunate to have several computers (including a Mac) in my home: two with Win 10, and several with Win 7 x64. I've removed one of the Windows 10 and two of the Windows 7 computers from the Internet -- permanently for DAW production. As for Microsoft forcing 10 onto my 7's, I put a stop to that a while back. In a nutshell, I find this whole business with Windows 10 to be an aggressive annoyance. The majority of my computer clients absolutely hate it; and I fully understand where they're coming from...

Last year I started to recommend dual boot or even better separate computers to my clients. One computer with Debian Linux for Internet, and one with Windows 7 x64 Lite purely for music production. They are slowly getting it.

edit: I wrote W7 x86 instead of x64. I was too sleepy. :) W7x86 doesn't make much sense for music production.

I use W10Privacy for disabling phoning.
I have issues with M-Audio ProFire 610, windows 10 its not compatible and there is no driver for windows 10.
I have too many AAE error on PT12.

I'm going to use the Ice Extreme version with SP1. It will never even know that the internet existed
