Glenn Frey, a founding member of the rock band the Eagles, died Monday in New York City, his publicist announced. He was 67.

Frey “fought a courageous battle” for the past several weeks, according to his publicist, but succumbed to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.

Was always a humble man and a very talented musician. Another sad day for the music world. The Eagles created some of the best americana / country music ever.

    67 is too young

First two Eagles albums were formative when I learned guitar in my High School years. I had no idea Frey was going down. Bummer.

  11. Thank you SirSillySausage for the buzz. The whole documentary is a fantastic historical reference to a most important Era of our shared musical heritage, though if one's preference is to focus more on the late Glen Frey and the great Eagles, fast forward to 61:00 minutes, approximately.

When I was in high school, I would listen to the Desperado album before going to school in the morning....drove my parents crazy. My rock contemporaries dying are reminding this "boomer" his mortality is sneaking up fast. Peace, and thanks, Mr. Fry

I feel badly for the pain that Glenn Frey must suffered from those maladies. However, the pain that the Eagle's music caused me made me so glad when punk rock came along. Thus is a terrible ambivalence I feel. People should have the right to enjoy whatever music they like, and to not be derided for their enjoying it. However, people should also be free from having music – whether it be of a sort to their liking or to their revuslion - imposed upon them. Glenn Frey/The Eagles were very talented, and wrote some good songs; I just wish that I could have come to enjoy them on my own terms, however I might, without having had them shoved into my ear for all this time. Commercial culture does that.
