Hi everyone. I found this link pretty late it looks like. I would absolutely dig getting in on the Getgood Drums deal. Its already been purchased I see. I would be happy to kick in some dough to the appropriate person(s), whoever they may be. Am I just way too late or is their a possibility of getting in? Thanks either way.

I can unequivocally say that they will most likely be AT LEAST 98% better. Probably.

Which library are you talking about? GGD or Orbinator/ Larson Rock Drums? Both are incredibly well tuned/ captured/ engineered sample libraries. Loads of potential for amazing mixes in a number of genres.

Well, right out of the box they are not really usable. I spent quite some time fixing the mapping to my liking, then creating the outputs to what i'm used to, and then, with some processing they sound HUGE and very modern.
They need some work on our side, but they are very rewarding. Give it a go. :)

Exactly. It's not that they're 'unusable' out of the box, it's just that they're raw drum sounds. You're MEANT to process them further. I find that un-processed (or lightly in this case) kits are a lot more useful to me than heavily pre-processed ones that make you sound generic as f**k because they've had the mixing choices done for you already. Surely that's what you want? A drum sound that sounds like you recorded it live rather than a program triggering samples.

The velocity layers on the shells have this awesome extra layer of 'heaviness' that you don't get in other libraries where the hits at around 113 sound the same as the hardest hits at 127 in any Superior Drummer library. Beyond that (113-127) you've got some really hard, powerful hits that make it so much easier to get that punchy, modern sound with loads of realism.

Even though they're tailored for heavier styles, you have so much freedom to process GGD however you want, be creative and they will fit almost any genre of music. The only thing I can think of that's merely a slight negative is that I wish they'd included more of the kick drum mics. I love putting Waves rBass on the sub/ kick out mic, makes it really punch in the subs. Just a nitpick though really as some parallel processing can easily make up for it.

I feel like this kit is going to be used EVERYWHERE just like the EZX Metal Machine was back in the day when it came out. BECAUSE IT'S SO GOOD!

Anyone would think I work for the marketing team or something the way I'm ranting haha. I JUST LOVE IT!! :phunk:

That's right, a way more accurate description of what i meant to say hehe.
Usually i run like mad from the very processed drum kits because you hear them everywhere. I still have nightmares with the first ezdrummer snare!!!

I am still experimenting with the kit, but got some usable sounds.
