AmpKnob is actually great sounding! However, I'm a bit disappointed that you can't load your own IRs, or even disable the built-in IR. It's probably the closest I've heard to a real Dual Rectifier. Mesa amps seems to, for some reason, be really difficult amps to emulate convincingly.

 

Sounds very good! However, as Arabian_jesus said, I would like an IR loader and some more options like LPF/HPF. I guess they will make a more sophisticated AmpKnob in the future. This is great for a start. I'm always on a lookout for interesting Amp sims. Thanks Xupito!

It is indeed excellent sounding. With regard to it having an IR Loader option that kind of defeats the whole purpose of the design.

 

I agree, it actually sounds quite good. As for the lack of IR options, I guess it would be for another plugin of the same company.
This one clearly is all for simplicity.

And yes, there is something "special" in Rectos : a big part of the sound is in the POWER AMP section.

Witch is very strange, because most high gain amps get their main character from preamp, and power amp is only "generic" sound signature (EL84,6L6 ...) witch can be interchangeable with another power amp.

Not with Dual Rectos. If you use only preamp in another power amp section, it will sound totally different, especially on Modern channel.

Here is the main reason why :

You're right. I heard in a good review that compared to, say the 5150 and other classic high-gain amps, the recto is one of the hardest to emulate. The technical reasons are in above my head but @PifPafPif seems to know about it.

On another state of affairs:

It wouldn't need to have an IR loader, just an option for disabling the internal IR completely so that you can insert your own IR loader after it.

True. Neural DSP Fortin Cali can get really close to a Dual Recto tone when you set 'Thump' to the left(low) and 'Hair' to the right(also low) (thump being negative feedback for low freqs and hair being negative feedback for high freqs). It's one of the many reasons as to why I bought Fortin Cali directly after it was released
