so im currently using a mid 2015 retina macbook pro 15"
having an i7-4th gen CPU on it, from your experience, how much of a difference you think ill get/notice when ill upgrade soon to the new 2019 Dell XPS 15 7590? (i7-9th gen)
(in terms of mixing plugins and heavy sessions and heavy synths like serum)

A 9th gen i7 has many benefits over a 4th (normal throttle, not over-clocked). Overclocking for audio production
gives very mixed results. Most of them not so good.

Using this link: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark.html, you can browse & compare CPUs.

Look for a Xeon equivalent or, wait for the Gen 10 processors later this year which have PCIe4 & DDR4 4 channel high memory support just to name a few feature improvements.

    I am currently using a Xeon E5-1620 V2 (LGA2011 R2) system with 32gig under Windows 10N. Very nice indeed.

Also running Manjaro Linux in live mode off a 32gig SDHC. Very snappy & responsive. Going to invest in another
SSD to install Linux w/Wine to run Windows software.

The proper i7 will work just fine but, a Xeon will give much better performance & stability.
