Just to let you guys know, that someone, not remember where or who (maybe in this forum) pointed me to a software called Game Prelauncher ... so I felt it deserved it´s own tread, since it turns out to be a great software for our music creation purposes. By disabling all not critical services and turning off all autoload programs (antivirus, firewall, lan, wifi, even windows shell, etc) it succeds in getting more free ram, processor resources and stability (that means using more plugins at the same time LOL).

Once you finish your music session, you just can restore your system with a simple click, to make your everyday tasks.

I have been using it for a week with great results.

Check it out ... 3.26 it´s the latest version. But somewhere in the net is an interesting v3.21 that you can try too.

Maybe our mods can point us to a newer version...

By the way, I am not affiliated with that software company in any form.

    Regards

I use AMD Fusion for the same purposes on my notebook. Works pretty well. There's also AMD Overdrive, which allows you to setup overcloking profiles, but I'm not to eager to use it on notebook, which is already overheating way too much (I've replaced original 5400 RPM 320 GB HD with 7200 RPM 500 GB HD :)).

Hi all, tnx for your posts!

@Rob: If you read the OP, the use of this software is just to get more resources from your computer, without making permanent changes. You see, is a common knowledge that windows is resource hungry, and people like us, that are using their computers to make music, are always looking for ways to get more power out of their hardware, stripping windows. The downside is that you cut a lot of functionality from your computer.
So, back to your request: 1: download
    http://download.cnet.com/Game-Prelauncher/3000-2121_4-75326703.html

    2.- Install
3.- Point / Click in Add game button (wizard)
4.- follow instructions (just select whatever .exe you want to execute... Presonus in your case (is in the installation folder)and choose whatever option you would like to keep.
5.- Make a shortcut of the profile just created
6.- Double click it and restart
    7.- Make music
8.- Restore to get to your old system profile.

Here is a youtube video that you can follow:

    I hope this helps!

    Happy music making!

i'm curious to hear what kind of stuff you do to need that sort of software? I ask cuz I dont have the greatest computer (just i7 740) and I often have projects with 40 tracks or so, and lots of plugins...but so far I have never reached the limits of my computer...one thing however I only use 48/24.

Hi there! ... you know, I am always on the move, so my laptop is not the best either. That is why I am always in need of whatever amount of resources I can get out of my machine. I do rock music, so between a bunch of libraries loaded in kontakt like prominy sc, distortion, a bunch of synths, bass, addictive drums, my sequencer started to crash because of not enough memory. So I switched to Reaper, which I think is great, lightweight software, plus game prelauncher, and since then I don't have problems anymore.

Since that setup worked for me, I just wanted to contribute to the comunity.

    Regards!
